Lately, Lilly and I have been singing songs at random times throughout the day. Sometimes I use this to distract her from being upset, crying in the car or while changing her nappy. She always laughs, claps her hands and says “yah” after each song.
A few weeks ago, my sister daughter her “head, shoulders, knees and toes”. Well she thought that was the funniest song. Laughs out loud so hard I think she’s going to fall over.
Last night, we were playing with some blocks which happen to have the alphabet on them. I decided to put them in order and sing the alphabet. Well, Lilly started singing too: HIJ …. RST! I was quite surprised at this but then remembered they are learning letters at the sitters.
I’ve been singing “Twinkle Twinkle, Little Star” and every so often she’ll get in a word or to.
This morning while getting ready for work, she was singing something and I finally figured it out. She was singing “twinkle twinkle…”, she knew the song! There were only a few key words I recognized but she was making an attempt to sing a song. It was really cute.
It’s so amazing to see how much they learn in such a small amount of time.
Do you sing to your children (nieces or nephews) ?
Do they “sing” back?
