When did that happen? I feel like March was the longest, slowest month ever – glad it’s over and we’re moving into April and spring weather. I can feel the heat rain/wet snow/more rain coming.
I thought I would take a look at my goals or new year resolutions while both girls napped and my husband was out for a run and blog about it, of course!
To review my goals:
1. Running
- Run a 5K personal best (under 29 minutes)
- Run a 1oK under 60 minutes
- Clock all miles I run in 2013
- Invest in a Garmin
- Run 33km the week of my birthday July 7 – 13th (as I turn 33 on July 10th)
I’m failing at all of these. Running hasn’t been a priority in the last month. It’s just really hard to manage with a baby and toddler but I’m now a little more focused and hoping to get a better schedule going soon. I may or may not have agreed to participate in the Mud Hero July 6th – holy shit, what have I done and why… WHY did I look at the course.
2. Family
- Play more outside with my girls and husband
- Family movie night every few weeks
- Try new foods/recipes
- Have more patience/let the small stuff go
We have played more outside this past month and it’s been great. We took Lilly skiing for the first time and I managed to take her a second time by myself. We’ve explored our yard or “garden” as Lilly and Sai call it, while using our new bottle of bubbles and even took the girls swimming. Okay, we didn’t go swimming outside but we did take Hilary swimming for the first time in an awesome pool in PEI while visiting family.
We’ve watched “Charlotte’s Web” over three days and now every spider we see is called Charlotte!
Trying new recipes – yes. I have an awesome Quinoa salad coming up and will blog about it.
Having more patience and letting the small stuff go – still needing to work on that one.
3. Personally
- Loose baby weight and reach ultimate weight this year
- De-clutter the house/purge and maybe have a yard sale
- Focus on DVD workouts when unable to run
- Blog a little more
Yeah, this one I am doing okay with.
I still have a good 15 pounds of baby weight to lose but I’m on it now, especially after my last workout (Live Lean Meltdown) was a killer. I am still hurting two days later!
De-cluttering the house – we have a large area in our mud room of stuff to go for the yard sale and this week we are going to purge everything we are not using or don’t want in the house anymore. I can see the difference already.
Blog a little more – ahhh, yeah, not blogging as much as I like but I’m trying.
Over all, it looks like I’m doing okay for my goals this year. I just need to get moving on the running goals to balance it all out.
Have you given up on your New Year Resolutions or Goals?
Have you made any new goals?
You know, it’s not too late to start but it’s worth your health if you don’t start.
Write a few down and stick to your SMART goals. Put your goals on the fridge, mirror or above your baby’s change table so you will see them over and over again. That way you are more accountable to achieving them.
It’s not too late to get active and healthier.
