I’m so exhausted from yesterday’s adventure with Lilly that I can hardly lift my arms, my legs are like dead weights and my head hurts like I am hung over. How does that happen?
Last month I had a goal of taking Lilly skiing…and that didn’t happen but I did book off March 3rd weeks ago so I could follow through on this. Our day looked a little something like this:
Dropped little H off at day care and drove to our local ski hill…Ski Martock. Got our gear on and ready to go. Met Grammy for a quick hug and then on to the bunny hill.
Three runs later it was snack time according to Lilly. Grammy and Lilly hung out while I got two whole runs in by myself….something I haven’t done in at least 4 years!
Lilly and I went out for another two runs on the bunny hill…then it was time for lunch….according to Lilly. I guess we know who’s the boss. I ran into a friend of mine and her 8-year-old daughters – yes, twins! We hung out, had lunch and then Lilly wanted to go out again! I couldn’t say no to her 🙂 Grammy left us after a few photo ops and we did another 5 runs on the bunny hill.
To quote Lilly as we are about to go down the hill: “Go faster Mommy, FASTER!”.
Me: Ahhh…no, we’re going fast enough (with an entire school surrounding us).
The day started off a little rough for me, it’s hard teaching your own kid how to ski and then feeling like I failed as a parent. Yeah, I know…silly…but that’s the kind of head space I was in before my solo runs. The day got a lot better and Lilly was way more into it and happier.
We then drove home (Lilly slept) and baked some muffins before picking Hilary up from the sitters. Successful adventure for us!
Do you teach your kids how to ski, play hockey, baseball, run…insert activity here ?
Can you sleep anywhere like kids can?
My husband and I saw a one year old on the mountain earlier in the season and I now think he is convinced I will basically give birth to a child with skis.
hahahah….that’s funny. That, or running sneakers 😉
Looks like such a fun day. I didn’t know you had a ski hill in NS! Where is it?
I CAN sleep ANYWHERE, thankfully! Get some rest today, if you can.
Yes, we have three actually! Martock is located in Windsor, Ski Wentworth (a bit bigger) is located near Truro and Ski Ben Eion is in Cape Breton.
I’m so jealous that you can sleep anywhere!
Funny, I thought of you this morning when I was walking to a meeting…the wind was wiping through my dress pants and I thought I needed some long underware that could double as compression pants since my legs were hurting…thought of the Tommie Copper stuff you love so much!
Yes, Anna… those TC tights/leggings would be perfect! I was telling my husband about your skiing and he said likely Cape Breton so I will have to tell him he is partly right!
Great pics! It looks like you guys had so much fun! I didn’t learn to ski until I was a teenager and I hope that Betty will learn younger. 🙂
I wish I could sleep anywhere! B can’t really sleep anywhere either! She must have inherited it from me.
It was fun! My parents started us really young on skis..I was 3 just like Lilly. We skied as a family and I LOVED it!
SO CUTE! That’s so sweet that you were able to spend quality time with Lilly and teach her to ski! I remember my aunt taught me how to ski (my mom was very pregnant with my little sis). They didn’t make skis small enough for me so they were a little big. My aunt said she spent the whole day chasing me down the slopes. Haha now I know why my parents used to put me in bright obnoxious colors.
That’s awesome your Aunt taught you. Oh those obnoxious colours were the key to not losing each other on the hill. My Dad had one of those coats – so we could see him on the hill! ha ha.
LOL
Nice! Sounds like a great workout! Oh, our boy is into everything – soccer, hockey, football, basketball, it doesn’t matter as long as it’s a sport.
It was a great workout, my legs didn’t like me this morning!
Sounds like he is doing to be a superstar! That’s awesome he is in multiple sports and not just one, so important.
Wow, lots of runs! Way to go both of you! Sounds like she did great. Love that she passed out on the way home, so cute.
It was fun! Thanks again for the loan of the gear – BIG help! Can’t wait until we can all go together 🙂
No problem, Teghan was excited to see the pics of her in his gear! It was cute! And he thought the sleeping pic was hilarious! Love your Dad’s comment! Going together will be fun!
Life is simple .Let Grandad take her.🎿🎿🎿🎿🎿🎿🎿🎿🎿🎿😎😎😎😎😎😎🐂
