About a month ago I signed up to participate in a virtual run – my first virtual run to be exact. It was a fundraiser for Team in Training and was called “Keep Calm and Run On”. I wanted to do a run in April but wasn’t sure what I could commit to with my husband away, our girls and other life moments. So, I figured a virtual run was a win-win!
The organizer is a part of the TTP group that I ran with last weekend and they managed to meet Saturday morning and run it together! I was hoping to drive in to the city and fit it in but the stars did not line up for me. Oh well, that’s why we have a treadmill.
I had a great run Friday at lunch, even got a new PB so I was hoping my run on Saturday would be a good one. It wasn’t. Whomp, whomp! I ran once the girls were in bed around 7:40 and it was slow going. I just didn’t have the drive in me and my only motivation was that I signed up to run the 5k. After I finished the run I was happy to have done it but would have much rather run with the group. I can honestly say I don’t even know what time I finished it in as I turned the treadmill off once I took a photo of the kilometers.
I was happy to have run, happy to have donate to a good cause and thankful that I am able to run.
Last week I ran a total of 29 kilometers for Around The World Running Blogger Relay Challenge 2014. You can read how far the group as run over the last five weeks at Early Bird Fitness.
Today is the start of Sneak It In with ParticipACTION !!!! How are you going to sneak physical activity into your day? Don’t forget to tweet about it using #sneakitin. I’m planning to run at lunch today…going to sneak it in at lunch time 🙂
Don’t forget about my PRO Compression sock Giveaway!!!
Do you try to sneak a workout in throughout the day?
What’s the easiest way to sneak physical activity into your daily routine?
Anyone walk, roll, bike, run or paddle to work?
Nice job getting it done even if you couldn’t go out with the group!
I take a runch break 3 times a week. That’s how I sneak it in. 🙂 On the days that I know I can’t run on my break, I just wake up early and go out.
Did you just coin the term “runch” as in “run on your” lunch? If so..I love it!
I am just about to do a kettlebell workout before breakfast and then this afternoon will walk half an hour to a doc’s appointment, and then half an hour back. If it is nice outside, we may take a longer route home!
It’s beautiful in NS today too! Was just out for a run…it was perfect weather!!!! Enjoy your day!
great job on doing the 5k even though you weren’t feeling it! It’s way harder to push through a crappy run when you’re own your own. I’ll sometimes walk parts of commute to or from school to get in some extra movement.
It can be hard to push through it on your own. I probably would have called it quits at 3k if it wasn’t for the fact that I committed to a virtual race.
I end up walking 5 – 10km daily just getting around since I don’t drive. I think it makes a big difference.
That’s a lot of walking!!! I wish I could walk/bike to work but it’s hard to do that with the kiddies and I need my car for work/travel to meetings.
I walk to the train station and then I commute. I also work between two offices which are 15 mins walk apart and then I’ll walk to and from the gym, local mall, park etc. London isn’t really car friendly even if I could drive. I work in the city centre so the traffic makes it impossible… and then there’s the congestion charge of £8 per day to enter the central zone by car. Fortunately the city is totally optimised for public transport.
It probably helps that there are SO many people in London. Even our “city” (Halifax) isn’t even as busy as your’s 🙂 Good for you!
Very nice! I am also in that challenge, so I added some miles to the world too. A couple times a day at work I will go for a walk around the building to stretch the legs. I always take the stairs to get a mini workout in.
Hey, wwhat is a Road ID Affiliate and how did you become one?
Yes, didn’t we run by your place 😉 I wonder if the run/team will make it to Nova Scotia! We’ll see. Check out their website, look for “affiliate program” on the side bar.
PS – I’ve been voting for your video!
Thanks so much! Voting is over, I hope I hear some good news from them soon!
Can’t wait to “run” through your town!
I’m trying to avoid the elevators as much as possible. I generally work out first thing in the morning. And today I had to watch a ton of people running in shorts and tanks on the trail beside my office. So jealous!
Congrats on your new PR!
It’s so hard watching other people running when you can’t. It’s the worst!
Hey, you ran a 5K and raised money! Nothing to be upset about there! Rockstar in my book 🙂
