My oldest daughter and I started off 2015 with a 1 km run together that was a lot of fun! She was so excited and is counting the days until we can go again.
It’s been close to 3 weeks since I ran and mentally that’s a hard thing to wrap my head around. I miss it. A LOT. That 1 km run with Lilly was great – just enough to get started again and not worry about my hamstring injury. I’ve been extremely hesitant to do anything because of my hamstring and wanting to get back into running slowly. Soccer is going to have to wait a little longer…..I think.
Last Friday and Saturday, I took Lilly skiing with the help my Dad. I wasn’t sure how much skiing I could do with Lilly so he was on the hill with her.
She’s improved a lot in just the two days and it’s only early in the season. I managed to do a few “runs” with her and then a few on my own (3 on Friday and two on Saturday). Saturday, I was able to ski with my running buddy, Krystol and our kids got to play together too!
Hilary rocked out her snowshoes and rocked out in my goggles for a while while Lilly skied some more.
Last night after unpacking our bags, having dinner and getting the girls to bed, I snuck on the treadmill for an easy 3k run š It was great and I had no pain in my hamstring. After I ran I stretched and did my physio exercises for my back. Wow, I sure sound like I’m falling apart!Ā I’m feeling pretty good today.
Even though I’m not running a lot right now, I am doing the things I love with my family and you can’t beat that š
How has your 2015 been so far?
Anyone skiing with their kids?
Coming up – 2015 goals, thinking about a FULL marathon and a shoe review!Ā
You do not sound like you’re falling apart. Run ski run + caring for two little girls sounds like you’re holding together really well! Be patient with the hamstring and yourself – it will come around š
Thanks – yes, I need to look at the whole picture š
OMG they are so cute in their snow outfits!
They are bundled up for a blizzard! ha ha!
We sure make a cute group of skiers š such a fun day! Way to go running after the busy days- I fell asleep on the couch and watched a movie.
Agreed! We ended up watching Frozen once we got back by the fire so I figured I should attempt a run once they went to bed.
Well, still, way to go getting a run and that your leg was ok!
Inspiring my daughters to run has been a lot of fun. They are 14 and 12 now and still enjoy it. Have fun keeping your daughter active and focused on improving.
You are staying active in spite of your injury, kudos to you! And having a lot of fun too š Your daughters are so adorable. Heal fast.
Your daughters look adorable in their ski outfits! Glad you finally got some snow. And I always love to hear about pain-free marathons. And a potential full marathon? Exciting!
HOW FUN does this look!! xo
How fun š Glad you were able to do a little running pain free! YAY for the road to recovery!
