I’m not a big fashionista or anything but I would say that I do enjoy some fun workout gear and clothing. Having said that, I’ve been wearing a few new things lately on my runs, bike rides and just in general, every day.
If you follow me on Instagram, you might notice I’ve been sporting some new things like the Polar A300 Activity Tracker. I’m also recently wore the grey Under Armour Run tank on a hot afternoon run (below). The word”run”on the front is reflective (safety bonus) and Under Armour HeatGear® long shorts.
I’m a big fan of longer shorts to avoid any chaffing because let’s be honest – it happens. And it happens to women’s legs more then not! The shorts are super comfortable and I’m thinking I want to go back to SportChek and get another pair so I can run in them more then my short-shorts.
The Polar A300 has been a fun addition and I’m still in the process of figuring it all out. Just when I think I know what I’m doing, I hit another button or sync it to the app on my phone and wham-o …it does even more! I’ll talk more about that next week.
Even though I took two weeks off running, it didn’t mean I wasn’t still active. Between playing soccer, coaching, going to yoga class and getting out on my bike, I still got to wear a few more things!
When the Nike Free RN sneakers arrived I had to wear them to work as I couldn’t just leave them at home to sit all day. They fit like a glove! I was super nervous about running in them as I didn’t think they’d give me enough support. As well as, I’m super cautious about getting injured. After wearing them at work for a few days and around the house, I knew they would become my go-to shoes when I’m not in sandals this summer.
They are super light weight and again, fit like a glove. I finally tested them out on a run recently and was really surprised (I’m not just saying that). As I started my run, I couldn’t even hear them on the pavement. You know when you hear runners hitting the ground really hard in a race, that’s all I could think of and how quiet these were. They felt great on the road, then in the woods/trails, crusher dust trail and then back on the road again. I love the colours too.
A while back I wore my Nike Run “There Is No Finish Line” tank which is a bit more of a muscle shirt and something I’m not used to wearing. I did like how comfortable it was and enjoyed the change in style for my workouts. Plus it can show off my fun-coloured sports bras underneath which isn’t something I’d normally do either 😉
That’s what I’ve been wearing lately during my workouts. It’s so nice to finally have summer weather to wear lots of tanks and get new summer tan lines and a few more freckles, ha ha! I’ll share a little more next week.
All opinions in this blog post are my own thoughts and experiences. These products have been provided as part of the summer SportChek Ambassador program. Thank you SportChek!
What’s your favourite piece of summer running gear to wear?
Do you have a go-to shirt or shorts that you love?
Do you use an activity tracker and app?
I’m a big fan of Atheta and now that they are having their huge summer sale, I’ve been shopping!
I’ve never had any Athleta clothing before! Shopping can be fun!!!
I just joined Strava and I like that. I also have Garmin Connect. 🙂
I haven’t done Strava yet but am on Garmin Connect – I need to find you on there!
I was trying to stay off Strava but was getting pressure from Warren and others to join. ha. 🙂 Yes, let’s connect on GC.
I try to look you up tonight.
I have been looking at those Nike shoes but they seem so light! Glad to read your review.
They are extremely light but I was pleasantly surprised!
There is so many cute running items to wear and I am always too cheap to try something new! I think the tanks look really nice on you! I have a Nike+ watch but have a feeling that I’ll be needing a replacement before the year’s out…
I usually stick with the same things over and over again. It’s nice to have something new to wear.
Those shoes are so cute. I love NIke frees, but I’d never wear them running. I’m glad they work for you though.
I’m a BIG fan of Asics so I was super nervous trying these out. Honestly, I was really surprised at how much I liked them and will wear them running.
I LOVE my Polar V800. I haven’t tried yours yet but I love the look – very similar to my M400. #tanktoptwinsies
I think I’d like the M400 too! #tanktoptwinsies
Love all your new gear! I recently got my first running skort and am kind of obsessed. They have compression shorts underneath that are long to prevent chafing and have a big pocket on the side for fuel. Plus, it’s darn cute!
Love running skorts! !!
My lululemon Speed Track shorts are my favourite and I ADORE them!
I’ve been leaving my Garmin at home and just running with my FitBit, but it’ll be time to bring out the Garmin soon.
I’ve honestly never owned any lululemon (shocking!!!). I’m never near the 1 store our Province has and if I am it’s always so busy.
I am totally obsessed with all of my workout gear as well! Can you really ever have too much? I love all my skirt sports running skirts and capris.
That’s right, you can never have too much! I have a running skirts that I love running in too!
I am loving my Spandits boardie shorts right now, it is super hot and these leave NO chafing!
Gotta love the no chafing…makes such a difference!
I don’t have a Polar or Garmin or anything like that yet, but I hope to someday! So far, I just use my iPhone, for tracking on foot or bike.
I love my Garmin as I can’t run with my phone all the time. However, it’s great to have the option to run with your phone and track it!
I’m not really brand-loyal to any particular company, but I have had great luck with stuff from Target. I have several tanks and sports bras that have awesome colors and have held up well (despite the numerous washes they have had). I also have numerous running shorts from Old Navy 😉
We only had Target in Canada for a short time before they left (about 2 years ago now), I loved their stuff too! Old Navy has some great gear too!
Everything is so cute. I always wear my Skirt Sports and Lululemon legging. I use a fitbit and Nike Sports watch.
I’ve never owned any lululemon….I might be one of the only people, ha ha!
I too am a fan of longer shorts, especially for my long runs. Nobody wants to chafe once they hit the high mileage.
Same here. I can do short-shorts for 5-14k but anything over 15k, I like to have longer shorts if I can.
I love having a lightweight pair of shoes for every day as well. I use the nike roshe runs! So comfy and surprisingly has decent arch support too!
I’m really surprised at the Nike shoes…I don’t know if I would have gone for them but I’m enjoying them that’s for sure!
I love Nike clothes but just can’t do their shoes. Sigh. I really want to!
I am a keen (slow) jogger but also walk on a daily basis and this is my meditation. I have a poetry blog here on WordPress and today’s poem is about a hard going jog in the heat in case you have time to look? Have a good afternoon, Sam 🙂
