That pretty much sums up life in the last week. It seems as if running is taking a back seat lately as I just don’t have the interest/drive/motivation to do it.
What’s been going on?
Last week I tried Barre for the first time and had a blast! I had lots of aches and pains in muscles that I didn’t know existed. I even went back this Monday! I’m trying to get back into weekly yoga but missed it yesterday because I was just too busy and needed my lunch hour to get stuff done. That just made me more grumpy which really, no one needs to be grumpy.
Blogging Confession
Honestly, I’ve barely signed in to WordPress all week to write, read or comment on other blogs. This might be the longest I’ve gone without writing a post. Right now, I just seem to have no desire to write and contemplating wrapping up the blog in December. Don’t worry, since I’m grumpy I’m not making any decisions but I’m sure trying to figure why I blog and if I’ll keep it going.
Should we go right or left?
Running, My Ankle & Soccer
I’ve gone on two 9k runs in the last 2 weeks and that’s it. They were a week apart but so different even though I ran the same route. My first run, I loved and seemed to just want to keep running and the second run was horrible from start to finish. Can’t win ’em all!
My ankle is getting better. Both long runs started off with no pain or stiffness so that’s a big win! I’m still in physio which seems to be working. I’m also back to playing indoor soccer each week and loving it!
Yes, I was THAT Mom last week who dragged her kids to her 7 o’clock soccer game which resulted in an a 1.5 hour delayed bed time! I made dinner the day before so that would it be quick and easy and lined up a sitter lined up but it fell through last minute. Luckily another Mom has a teenager coming who loves kids! She took care of the girls while I played. Have you ever been half dressed for work and half for a run/workout? I tend to make dinner and get half ready for soccer: work blouse and soccer shorts for the win! After the game it was home to settle the girls down for bed time.
PUMPKINS!!!!!!!!!
We went a last minute pumpkin picking with my brother’s family on the weekend. Sunshine, a rainbow, cold winds and then a downpour of rain. It was the fastest pumpkin picking I’ve ever done!
Though pumpkin picking was so quick due to the weather it was completely unplanned and so great to see my brother, his wife Jen and my niece Ava. Best part of our weekend for sure!
Pumpkin everything or ex-pumpkin lover?
What have you been up to?
Bloggers – how long have you been blogging ? When is it time to stop?
You don’t sound like yourself. Maybe take a bread for a while? I would say that it is time to stop anything when it feels like you are returning to it purely out of obligation. That doesn’t me it isn’t special, but that you honor it and the specialness it once had for you.
Thanks Suz! I’ve been slowing down with the blog for a while now and need to figure out where it sits with them.
Glad to hear the ankle is feeling better. Sorry to hear about your blog contemplations. Selfishly, I like reading your posts. However, I know how hard it can be to fit it in. I have been giving myself the okay to post just when I can. With a family and job, it can be tough sometimes. This week, work is super busy, so I will return next week if I can. When I stop enjoying it, I will know it is time. Have a wonderful weekend with those cute little ones!
Thanks Sarah. It is good to know people actually still like reading these blog post, ever feel that way? I think I’m just going to take it week by week and not worry about trying to force it.
Oh blogging. It’s been since mrw for me. When I have a few mins to myself I’m choosing to do other things. With three kids now I can’t find time to run or blog.
It’s hard to do it all! Since Saï is no longer traveling to PEI, I find myself wanting to blog less and less – kinda makes sense to me 🙂 As for the lack of running, I’m hoping that’s just a phase for me 😉 Hope all is well.
I started walked everyday November 1st, hoping it will foster the motivation to run. I am aiming for the Bluenose in the spring, I’d like to run the 1/2 again.
Nice Tracey! I’ve been walking a lot more lately too. I’m on the fence about Bluenose but it’s on my list of maybes 🙂 Good luck!
I think about quitting blogging too. It takes a lot of time. But I love to write…and I love the interactions with my readers. For now, I’m staying put.
I’m so glad I’m not the only one feeling this way. I too, love to write and that’s why I’m torn with the thought of giving it up.
Well, you know where I’m at on that front. It takes a lot of time and energy to blog consistently and well, and I’m just not feeling it that much right now. I’m just trying to only write when I really want to, and not putting any pressure on myself to read or comment on anyone else’s blogs. I’m trying to keep it “for me” instead of whatever I think I “should” be doing. Good luck with your decision!
I do know Rae and each time I see another blogger step back it makes me think the time is coming for me. I’ve been writing when something good happens that I feel is worth sharing – or not good (bad runs etc.). I’m going to take it a week at a time and see where it goes.
So glad you tried barre! It’s so true about muscles you never knew existed. It works your butt like you never knew you could
I loved it! Hoping I can keep it up 2-3 times a month but it all depends on my work schedule. Yes, my butt was sore in ways I didn’t know it could be!
It sounds like you need a break or a vacation?! Running has been really hard for me too lately. I am trying to find my mojo before the holiday rush.Hope we both do!
I think you nailed it! Fingers crossed we both do!
Aw. Sorry you’re not feeling it lately!
I’ve been blogging for almost 8 years (although my blog changed from a mom blog to a running blog in 2013). I take breaks every so often to clear my hand and focus on other things, but I always like to have an outlet for my writing. However, there has to be a value in it for you. Maybe take a break over the holidays and make a decision in the New Year.
I love the idea of pumpkin, but I’m not down with pumpkin flavors (except pumpkin curry soup). Saves me a lot of money and calories on Pumpkin Spice Lattes, though 🙂
Eight years, wow, that’s impressive! A break might be what I need as I do enjoy writing my blog and connecting with others and other bloggers.
Sorry you haven’t beenfeeling like bloggin lately. I have been blogging for almost 6 years and I go through periods where I just want to give it up and then something amazing happens and i remeber why I do it in the first place. Maybe take a break and see how you feel.
Blogging is like a roller coaster of ups and downs…just feeling like I’m stuck in the down at the moment. A break might do me some good.
I’ve been blogging for 3 years now and sometimes I go on little breaks to get some time for myself.
I’m worrying less and less about my blog these days which isn’t a bad thing.
Life comes first. Blogging second. I’ve taken time off all over the place. The good thing is, the blog will
Be there when you’re available.
So true, life does come first. Now that my husband is home and not working away, I’m wanting to do less blogging. I kinda like my little family 😉 and would rather spend time with them and less focus on blogging. It will always be here – that’s true too!
I’m sure I’ll be the same way when my hubby gets home! Enjoy your family hon. xoxo
I think it is totally natural to feel the way you do about blogging. A lot of times it is time consuming, may feel purposeless, or without direction. However it is not! Your blog brings me and many others joy. It is ultimately your call in the end and you know what is best for you, but I wanted to let you know that the community is happy you are here 🙂 ❤
For a while there it was super consuming and now it just feels like I’m a little lost. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m not running as much or excited about training etc., but it’s been a little different lately. Thanks for your comments, I love connecting with others and reading their blogs as well – it’s such a interesting community!
I’ve gone through waves of thinking about giving up my blog too. It takes a lot of time and work, but what keeps drawing me back in is the accountability that it provides me with, as well as the connections I’ve made with others. I hope you can figure out the best decision for you soon.

Well I for one, lover reading your blog. Your fam jam is so cute. You are an inspiring mama!
I recently started wondering whether I should keep up the blogging too (though I am way less consistent than you)… but I decided to keep it up, if anything, for the Google SEO power! lol… seriously though it really helps 🙂
I really want to try barre as wel! Glad to hear you thought it was a good workout bc honestly have been skpetical since they use such light weights. I will let u know once I try it!
I would say if blogging has become an obligation, take a break until you are inspired again. The pumpkin picking looks like it was fun!
