Yup, I’m far behind in wrapping up stuff for 2016 and no, I don’t have my goals fully set for 2017 but I’m working on it.
Last year I had a number of goals I wanted to achieve over twelve months. Some I did and some I fell short on and some didn’t even make the cut. C’est la vie! I’m not going to get too caught up in what I did or didn’t do, or dwell on it. It’s time to move on, set new goals and accomplish new things.
My 2016 goals were:
Active Lifestyle:
- Skate on the Oval: Nope – move to 2017.
- Cross train more:
- Do more yoga – Yes and continue.
- Cycle (outdoors and indoors) – Outdoors yes, indoors not yet.
- Strength training and PT exercises – Okay for the first six months then it kinda went south.
- Running:
- Run three new races: I ran two new-to-me races: Johnny Miles Half Marathon and Heart of the Valley 5k.
- Improve my times in 5k, 10k and Half Marathon distances – Nope. 😦
- Be a pace bunny again. Sadly I was too injured. This was disappointing.
- Represent Team Nuun – Yup, I think so.
- Avoid injuries! Ba ha ha ha! Wishful thinking! A nice ankle injury mid August.
Family:
- Ski and skating this winter – We did good at skiing but not skating.
- More time together, less time apart. Yup!
- Take a vacation with just my husband. Nope…no vacation. 😦
- Go camping and paddle this summer together. Nope. We did camp in our backyard which was fun but not a a campsite.
Blog:
- Blog three times / week. – I started off pretty good then kinda slowed down.
- Take a blogging course. Did this last January.
- Limit evening social media. Started off the year good but then it went out the door.
Other:
- Volunteer more. A little bit – coached soccer for both of my daughters.
- Be a better Mom. I tried but can’t say I nailed this one.
- Take a pottery class. Nope….still on my list to do some day.
- Go to bed earlier. I started off doing really good with getting to sleep earlier but that too went out the door fast.
There you have it! A pretty simple post for my 2016 goals. I don’t feel I need to reflect on these in depth but didn’t want to leave ya hangin’ 😉 As I mentioned, I’m still working on my 2017 goals but hope to have that done soon to share with you!
Did you set and achieve your 2016 goals?
What’s one thing you didn’t do in 2016 that you want to do in 2017?
Have you set any goals for 2017? (Or still working on them like me?)
lol isn’t it funny how we always start off with the best of intentions? I think I hit about 50% of my 2016 goals.
It’s kinda fun having goals to achieve during the year but I’m not too worried about those ones I missed. I had fun trying to achieve them and that’s what matters.
Those are really a lot of goals for one year! I am trying to narrow down my goals and do less with more focus
I’m almost done setting my goals for this year and feel like it’s going to be less as well.
I’d say you did a pretty solid job. I’ve been leaning towards less and less social media when my family is around. It doesn’t make me the best blogger. But my priority is family. I can still fit stuff in but it needs to be managed around family time.
Thanks 🙂 I’m happy with my goals and not too worried about the ones I missed. I get the whole less social media thing when family is around. I need to start doing more of this.
I laughed out loud at the ‘be a better mom-can’t say I nailed this one’ line…. pretty sure that’s just how all moms feel in general. In the summer we should all paddle to an island in our lake and camp.
And I’m laughing at your comment now! I’m pretty sure we do feel that way, just had to be honest!
And yes a paddle on your lake to camp wpuod be awesome. Can we take Fletcher?
Honesty is always good 🙂 Yes to Fletcher. He just has to be watched for trying to nab sticks floating by the canoe…
I love how you actually wrote your goals down and compared them at the end of the year. I think this does take self-honesty and self-awareness. This will help you so much more to check off all the rest in the future, as well! Happy New Year Anna!
i was 2 for 5 on my 2016 goals so yeah, kind of a fail. No specifics nailed down yet for this year. I’m kind of gun shy to be honest.
What blogging course did you take? Did you like it?
Let me just say that I LOVE your 2016 goal “doodle” pic! I’d like to do have some kind of journal (running/fitness related) for 2017…but my blog kind of does that. I love having actual paper, though, to write on and doodle, etc.
I love how you outlined your goals, then went back and reevaluated how the year went! I am going to do this for 2017, thanks so much for the idea!!!
I’m trying to limit social media but it’s hard. Sometimes it’s my only interaction with people besides my kids, lol!!
I wanted to sub 4 in 2016 and got it!! 😀
I find it hard to limit it sometimes as well. You worked hard for that sub 4, so awesome!
Wow! You have very detailed goals. That’s neat, and probably more likely to reach them, that way. I usually just make mine time based, like 5k or, 10k or….I was able to reach most of them. Except running a full. So, it’s at the top of my list for 2017. Look forward to your 2017 goals. I still haven’t figured mine out yet either
I want to do less social media and more quality time with my family. But as I respond to all these comments on my blog, my husband is snoring, my youngest son is entertaining his girlfriend, and my oldest is getting ready for work. Oh well!!!
Great job on achieving most of your 2016 goals! I had two goals and missed both. I wanted to run 1000 miles last year and fell way short. I wanted to PR my marathon… well I never even made it to the starting line of my second full. I am going for the 1000 miles again this year. That’s the only goal I have so far!
Just like training for a race, I think there’s benefits to having goals even if you don’t fully reach them. I’m aiming for more sleep which means less nighttime blogging! I like your goal of signing up for a race last minute. That’s hard to do around here, but not impossible.
You did great! It’s hard to cram so many things into a year.
I think goals are a moving target – sometimes we hit them and move on, sometimes they take a little longer.
Injuries got in the way of my big goals for 2016 so I readjusted a little and feel good about things. In 2017, I want to be able to do a handstand. So silly, but I have zero upper body strength so it would be nice to accomplish.
Looks like a great year for you! I hit my 2016 goals, but the last couple of years I’ve limited my goals to just 2 or 3 per year (keeping it that small helps me! lol).
You did great for your 2016 goals – and i don’t want to hear that you didn’t nail being a great mom! You try every day, and that (to me) makes you a great mom! ❤
Great job on all your goals, I think you did awesome. Here’s to an even better 2017.
I think you did great with your goals. I just laid out some goals for 2017 – tried to focus on just a couple things in each area of my life. I can get carried away sometimes and set too many 🙂
That was a lot of goals! Have a great 2017!
It’s always so great to look back at the goals that you set! You had a lot of great goals and accomplished so much!
Kudos to you for the progress that you made. Even with being injured last year, you still accomplished quite a bit.
