Happy Monday!!!!!!!
I wish I could greet Monday like I do Friday, Saturday or Sunday 🙂 Don’t get me wrong, I don’t always dread Monday’s but I knew last night after my soccer game that I wouldn’t enjoy getting up this morning. It could be the fact that I’m sore or that I put back out again (minor but uncomfortable) or I’m tired and just want to sleep.
I’ve taken a step back in running because of my ankle…yes, I’m still having issues with it. After seeing my physiotherapist last week, we discovered my posterior tibial tendon isn’t happy (to summarize). It’s been giving me pain after I run longer distances, walking up and down stairs and pivoting. It’s amazing how many times in a day you actually pivot on your feet.
Having said that, I can still play soccer with my brace as it supports my ankle and the quick cutting motion doesn’t bother me = no pain post soccer. It’s been suggested I get some inserts for my running sneaks and lay a little low on the running; 1-2 days a week instead of 3-4. I also have new exercises to strengthen that part of my ankle. But really folks, really….I just want to be healthy and strong again with no pain. I’m confident I’ll get there eventually.
Last night’s soccer game was an interesting (seven aside women’s league). We thought we had 7 players but ended up playing with only 6 against a team that had 9 players. We figured it would be a game of survival but we managed to get a few great opportunities to score. We ended up winning the game 3-1 🙂
Last week’s workouts:
- Sunday: Snowshoe after our dump of snow & 5k on the Treadmill.
- Monday: Shoveling driveway after another 8cm fell – yes I’m counting this.
- Tuesday: Nothing
- Wednesday: Ran 6k on the Treadmill
- Thursday: Physio appointment. Took it easy that night.
- Friday: Nothing.
- Saturday: Nothing.
On a positive note…..my order of Nuun arrived 🙂
Decluttering
One of my goals for this year is to declutter and really clean up our house. Last week I managed to get four bags of “stuff” out of our house and donated and 2 bags of random paper into recycling. BIG WIN!
Best moment of the weekend: watching my girls at Gymnastics. Our youngest is extremely close to doing handstands by herself and our oldest does the best bridges ever! Taking them to gymnastics makes getting up early SO worth it.
Though it wasn’t an amazing week of workouts, I don’t regret taking four days to not workout. Life is busy sometimes and I’m not going to feel guilty for taking time to rest.
How was your weekend?
What’s the longest period of time you’ve been in physio?
What do you love to see your kids do?
I’m joining for the first time the Weekly Wrap hosted by HoHo Runs and MissSippiPiddlin.
That darn ankle needs to start behaving. So sorry that you are still dealing with that. But great that you know what’s it is and how to deal.
SOme serious wins! Both on the pitch and in the… kitch? Why not, right lol.
Hope your ankle issues get resolved soon. I’ve never had to do PT before, but I usually self-diagnose as healthcare is just too expensive to go to the actual doctor, LOL!
Nice job winning your game! Sucks about your ankle though.
Hopefully it’ll heal up quickly!
Thanks! We were all rather happy with the win!
Great soccer game! How satisfying was that? Hope the ankle gets better soon.
We all felt great after the game! And, thanks 🙂
Sorry to hear that your ankle has been bother you. I love Nuun too, I need to get some more of that. I probably should order it too, cheaper than the stores. I used to be in gymnastics when I was younger. That is so fun!

trying to declutter is easier said than done!
I am so sorry about your ankle! Heal fast! My little guy’s bridge is so crazy too! They are so darn flexible it’s crazy!!
Decluttering is a big goal of mine as well…seems like it’s a constant work-in-progress. Although, I’m scared to see how much “dust and grime” is hiding from me LOL
Boo, sorry to hear that your ankle is still bothering you. In my opinion, shoveling snow totally counts as a workout. 🙂 As does decluttering- going through things can be hard work!
I’ve somehow managed to never need physio. I’m hoping it stays that way!
I hope your ankle gets to 100% soon but it’s great you can play soccer — and win! It is so fun seeing our kids succeed at sports!
Nice job on the game, but boo for issues with running.
I’m on a huge decluttering mission. I can’t buy anything new until I get rid of some stuff.
Good call on the no buying. It feels so good to get stuff out of my house!
Hope you’re feeling better soon! Here in NC we’ve had some crazy weather. Last week it was several inches of snow and ice, and stayed below freezing. Four days later it was in the 70s for a day! Such is winter in the South.
So sorry about your ankle. How neat that you play soccer in a women’s league! I played in high school and my daughter has played since she was 4. Now she’s 13 and playing on the varsity soccer team at the high school as a 7th grader. I am so proud of her! None of her friends play. She’s always been kind of on her own. She’s loves soccer and is passionate about her sport. I could talk about soccer all day lol! Hope you have a great week!
I’ve played soccer since I was 5 and absolutely love it. I played in a competitive league growing up and just can’t give up the sport. I’ve that your daughter is pursuing her own passions when her friends aren’t doing that sport. What confidence she has! I’ve noticed on your blog all the games you go to, that’s awesome ! Have a great week.
I’m sorry to hear about your ankle. Last spring when I had PF, the pain was radiating to the ankle and I was worried about posterior tibialis tendonitis. That’s when I brought in the sports med…
My post tib was NOT happy with me for the LONGEST time last year and the year before. I hope you feel better soon ):
Ugh. I’m so sorry you’re hurting. I hope you can get some relief soon – I can’t imagine how frustrated you must be.
I love watching my kid do anything that brings a smile to his face. He’s a bit reticent with things, so when he gets incredibly excited (like over cub scouts or rock climbing or something like that), it’s just the best feeling. He is also kicking butt in karate, which is awesome.
I’m also fighting some tendonitis in my right ankle that will.not.clear.up. it’s so aggravating!
And one of the coolest things in parenting is watching your kid enjoy something you also enjoy when they develop the same reasons you like that thing. my eldest loves swimming the same way I do, and that is mind-blowing for me.
So sorry you’re in pain…that is the worst! Your snowshoeing workouts sound fun though! I’ve always wanted to try that!
Good for you for not feeling guilty. You need to take care of yourself and not risk further injuring yourself. Listen to your body and do what it tells you to do.
Welcome to the Weekly Wrap! I feel your ankle pain. I’ve had several ankle issues (including a stress fracture) over the years and I’m nursing a slight pain after running Disney last weekend. I’m curious what make/model of shoe you run in? It’s great you can play soccer without it bothering you. I spent 3 months in physical therapy last winter for hip and IT pain. It was one of the best decisions I ever made and I was allowed to run while in therapy. I definitely need to take a cue from you and de-clutter and clean my house. Thanks for linking, Anna! I hope to see you here again next week.
Thanks for stopping by, I’m still playing catch up with your blog and Miss Sippi Piddlin. Bummer about your pain post Disney. I’ve been wearing the Asics Gel Cumulus for the last 4 years (new ones each year) and love them. My right (injured) ankle pronates slightly, therefore I’m going to start using orthotics as suggested by my PT. I’m confidence we’ll get it sorted out. Yeah, I’m happy I can still play soccer with now pain (in a brace). Anything over 8k and I seem to have some pain.
Rest days are important too! I hope that ankle heals up quickly! I am all for de-clutter- it is a great goal and I love to do it when the hubby is gone! 🙂
