Happy Friday Folks!
With only a few more days left of January, I thought I’d join in the fun and share with you some Runfessions from the last month, hosted by Marcia .
*Update/Runfession: When scheduling posts for first thing in the morning, make sure you use AM not PM.
Runfession: I took two weeks off running (unplanned) this month! I started off the month great; running 3-4 days a week then just kinda stopped. I stopped partly because of my next runfession but it wasn’t required of me to stop running. I did however, rest!
Runfession: I’m not loving the fact that I’m back in weekly physiotherapy for my silly ankle that just doesn’t want to heal. However, I’m thankful to have access to a great physiotherapist that’s working hard at getting my ankle stronger. Me and the BEAST have been hanging out lately.
Runfession: My goal this month was to run 75 km and I’m a little short. Well, to be honest, a lot short. I’ve managed 32 km and I’m not even upset, disappointed or bothered by the fact that I’m not going to reach my monthly goal. Life happens!
Runfession: Though I haven’t run a significant amount of kilometres this month, I’ve stayed pretty active. Between soccer games, random lunch time skating, snowshoeing in our only dump of snow (which is gone now) and skiing with the family – I runfess, I don’t regret taking some time off running.
Also, sometimes I make our lunches late at night after my soccer game. Yes, I’m still in my jersey and shorts…..priority was make lunches first, shower second.
Runfession: I’ve only signed up for one race so far this year – Maritime Race Weekend in September (5k and Half). I have a long list of races I want to do but right now, I don’t have an interest in signing up for them 😦 I’m hoping that when my ankle is 100% I’ll feel a little more motivated and register – or I might just wing it this year and sign up for races last minute. Don’t worry, I’ll at least train for them.
And I’m joining Running on Happy and Fairytales and Fitness for the Friday Five 2.0 linkup!
Do you have any runfessions from January?
What’s one thing you loved doing this month?
Have you signed up for all the races or none?
I currently only have one race that I’m registered for . Looks like I may be signing up last minute as well . 😦
I runfess sometimes I think setting mileage goals is over-rated. There’s so much to be said for enjoying a variety of activities. Especially in the off-season or when we’re allowing the body to heal. I think you are wise! Thanks for linking up!
I’m setting mini goals each month and running 75km was one of them. I’m not beating myself up over it but was using it as something to work towards in the off season.
I have a light race calendar so far this year, too. I’m still trying to figure out the race scene in my new city. I hope your ankle gets better soon!
I love this idea of runfessions. I do need breaks from running from time to time and it’s great that you don’t regret it at all. Running should be the something fun that you do and not a chore. I hope your ankle heals up soon. 😊
This was my first rufession! Thanks , I actually had a great PT appointment today!
Aww man, I can’t believe your ankle is still bugging you, that sucks!
I haven’t been snowshoeing yet, but I’m hoping I can get out once this winter.
Races…..I all of a sudden have several on the roster, and a few more to add over the weekend (to beat the Feb. price increases). $$$
I should probably take a peek to see when some race fees go up! Ugh….now I need to decide on which races 🙂
I have a couple races on my calendar but I’m keeping things super casual this year. But having races on the calendar keep me focused so there’s that. 😉
I have a feeling it’s going to be a casual year for me..if not casual Spring!
I don’t usually set mileage goals for that exact reason. Life does happen. LOL on the am/pm thing
I was using the goal for something to work towards. Though I didn’t reach it, I at least tried!
I’m not setting mileage goals, per se…I did do that lululemon/strava challenge and that was fun! I know there will be miles to run for my marathon training. But I’m putting more emphasis on cross training this time around. No need to get injured! I hope the ankle calms down for you.
I saw the lulu/strava challenge but only at the end of it! Sounds like a fun challenge! Yes, cross training’s high on my list this year too!
Lunches always first! I know the trouble.
Always!
Good for you for signing up for a September race already!
Hope that ankle feels better soon!
Thanks for linking up!
The September race is such a great weekend event (double event), it’s hard not to sign up especially when it sells out!
I’m signed up for a handful of short races, but not for any of my long ones yet. I’ll likely end up signing up last minute for things as I discover free time on my calendar.
I’m torn right now if I should do a bunch of shorter races and build back up to a solid half. Sometimes signing up last minute is worth it!
I just found your blog and subscribed. I love the runfessions post. i
My runfession: this week, I had my first 2 runs of the year but since I ran twice and not just once, I am pretty optimistic I will continue 🙂
Thanks!
All the best with your running!
Hope your ankle feels better. I don’t have any runfessions I can think of this month, I am actually pretty good In That department for once.
My ankle is actually starting to feel good! Fingers crossed!
I love your added note about scheduling for AM not PM..hahaha…I’ve done that with my alarm before, no good! This month I’ve enjoyed joining a virtual run club, and coming back to my blog! It’s helping me get back into it. 🙂
A virtual run club – that sounds like it could be motivating! Happy your back to blogging!
I call all that activity , cross training! So you had more cross training than miles- it is all good! 🙂
I’m pretty happy with all my activity this month! Good variety!
I need to cool it with hitting enter and whipping out my credit card to pay for entries!
Ha ha! Yeah, that can be a challenge for me too!
