Mid March Weekly Wrap Up

I feel like this year is passing by rather quickly, especially with it being pass March Break! Though I’ve been loving our winter adventures, we’ve had a few tastes of spring and I’m really looking forward to some warmer weather.

Weekly Workouts March 14-19th:

Monday: Nothing. I desperately wanted to run but when the clock hit 9pm and I still had not finished getting everything packed (food/ski gear) for the next day, I decided to trash the idea.

Tuesday: Skiing for 5 hours. The girls and I hit up the hill for some March Break skiing.

Wednesday: Nothing. Took it easy and we went to our local library.

Thursday: Afternoon hike with the girls (half hour) and 6k evening run.

I ran my first run in over 2 weeks. I didn’t really plan to run but briefly mentioned to my husband that I kinda wanted to run. It was 7:30 pm and still light out. His response was quick: “then go get ready, you’ll regret not going”.  I plugged in my Garmin as the battery was close to dying and hoping I could get enough juice in it while I got dress to last during my run. I was out the door by 7:45.

I was kinda dreading this run since it’s been so long but surprisingly my legs and lungs felt great. My Garmin battery warned me twice that it was getting low but I kept running. I turned around at 3k and decided I run back the same way to get in 6. Just as my Garmin hit 4k and beeped at me, it died.

The run was just the kick start I needed however I was extremely sore the next day.

Friday: Soccer game. I was extremely lucky to have my neighbour come take care of the girls as Saï was working. I was late arriving and just couldn’t get into a good grove and played horrible. We lost 1-0.

Saturday: Skiing for 5 hours with the girls. Oh this was a great day! Minus a lunch break, we skied for 5 hours and at the hill for 6.

Sunday: Cycled 12k (39 minutes) – a rather leisurely session on my indoor trainer but a good one.

Though it was a bit of a challenging week with the girls, it was still an active one. I’m really hoping to get back into running more and debating on starting a training plan for a 10k or half. I’ve still yet to register for anything but I figure it I start following a training plan, not only can I build my base but I can decided later to register for a spring race. I’d rather not register for a race and have not invested the time to training for it.

Were you on March Break?

Do you ditch workouts when on vacation, maintain or keep them the same?

Ever train for a race though you aren’t registered?

Today, I’m joining for the Weekly Wrap hosted by HoHo Runs and MissSippiPiddlin.

  1. Looks like you keep your girls so active! That is great! And YES for supportive husbands! My long runs wouldn’t happen if it weren’t for my husband. Congrats on your successful run!

  2. Way to get all that skiing while you can! Our break doesn’t start until next week so I’m looking forward to it. I always work out on vacay. Maybe even more than I do regularly.

  3. Your husband gives sage advice. Just get it in so you don’t regret it. I love that you had a good run too! I also love that you skiied for 5 hours with your family. Awesome!

  4. I try to stay as active as possible, but HELLO? It’s vacation 😉 If I can squeeze in a run here and there, great, or I might do some simple lunges/planks/squats/push-ups for 30 minutes or so. As you know, a week “off” will not derail any training. It looks like you were busy with your girls!

  5. You guys are so active! I love it.

I try to run when I’m on vaca but if I don’t feel safe running outside of where I’m staying and there’s no access to a treadmill, I forego it. Plus it’s vacation so meh… 🙂

  6. Good job staying active this week! Its always hard to start running after a break. I really like running on vacation- Im always up earlier than everyone else so I usually work out first thing in the morning.

  7. We did just have Spring Break last week. The kids go back to school tomorrow. We get out before Memorial Day so this is pretty much it until the end of the year.

I love those skiing pictures! Looks like so much fun! We are hoping to work out a winter vacation next year to see if we can’t take advantage of some snow somewhere.

So glad you were able to get in a nice run! That must have felt amazing!

  8. Sounds like some great skiing!!! I love working out on vacation, sometimes I get more in when away then I do at home 🙂

  9. Oh man. I wish I could be that active, but running seems to be the only thing I can consistently do. Maybe I should make non running goals so I can be more motivated to try other activities. 🙂

  10. Spring break is this week here. Tourists are everywhere! You had a very active week especially with all the skiing with the girls! Congrats on getting out there and getting that run in, the first mile is always the hardest! 🙂
