Another month, another round of Runfessions! It’s been a month of trying to get back into running more regularly but also doing other sports to cross train.
April Runfessions
I runfess that I’m struggling to increase my running days while trying to train for a half marathon. I’ve been loving having an indoor trainer and working through some challenging rides. I’ve also been loving getting back to weekly yoga classes which seem to help my back a lot.
I runfess I’m done with Physio. I feel like I’ve spent the last 2 years going to physio for either my hamstring, my SI joint, my ankle injury and now my back from the car accident. I’m just done with going but I’m still going as I kinda have to if I want to get my back better. I’m tired of leaving work for PT but I’m also tired of having a sore back. Catch 22!
I runfess that I’ve been loving all the Boston Marathon coverage but secretly would love to run the London Marathon! My husband is from England, so it would be nice family trip for us but I just feel like running in London would be awesome! PS – I’ve never run a marathon before.
I runfess that I FINALLY registered for Johnny Miles Half Marathon (June 18th) – whoop whoop! I guess I took the month of April to convince myself that I can get back into training for a half marathon. Though my training and lose training plan have been wish-washy, I’ve managed to get through some long runs with limited back pain – so that’s a win in my eyes!
I runfess that I’m loving the kinda spring like weather we are having but haven’t had many runs outside. Don’t get me wrong, I’m so thankful to have a treadmill to do most of my runs on but I’m sure looking forward to more outdoor runs this spring!
I runfess (yes, an extra one) – that I’m really missing playing soccer and can’t wait to get back on the field. Having had this car accident and dealing with whiplash has sidelined me from contact sport – which makes sense. However, I’m missing it.
Do you have an Runfessions for the month of April?
Are you loving the spring like weather, or has it even arrived ?
I’m linking up with Marcia for today’s Runfessions post. It’s hosted on the last Friday of each month! Check out my March, February and January Runfessions.
I’m also linking up with Running on Happy & Fairytales and Fitness for the Friday Five 2.0 linkup!
Congrats on registering for you half! Good luck with your training!
Thanks!
Glad your back is feeling better! I feel like Im always in PT and it can be so time consuming. Right now Im just going to a chiropractor so I don’t do exercises there, and it takes alot less time. But still, those copays add up!
I know my PT is getting me better but I think I wish I was just 100% healthy now 🙂
I’m sure you’re totally done with PT. I know how that goes! Hopefully your back will be all good sooner rather than later. And congrats on signing up for the half! Woohoo!
Thanks. I feel like I am finally seeing some good progress with my back, it takes time which I need to remember and embrace 😉
Glad you are on the mend. I am running less these days between adding OTF, spinning and yoga to my weekly schedule, but my body seems to appreciate the variety. We are in for a taste of summer this weekend and I’m not ready for it to be that hot yet!
We are supposed to have some nice weather this weekend too, finally!!! Hope it’s not too hot for you!
I would love to run the London Marathon – I am entering the lottery next week!
Awesome, Good Luck!
Yes we finally have the amazing spring weather here to stay! My favorite time of year
I so happy to finally have spring weather!
I hope to run the London Marathon one day! It’s one of my favorite cities.
Sometimes going to physio and massage feels like a full-time job on its own. I remember that from after my car accident. Seems I missed reading or finding out you had one. Sorry to hear that Anna.
Running London one day would be amazing I am sure. You could do it!
Oh, and yes, I am happy for spring weather!
It sure does feel like a full time job! Yes, snow/ice on hwy 101 in Digby was my car accident late March. I’m lucky I only had whiplash! Happy Spring Kyla!
You are lucky but sometimes whiplash is worse because it takes so long to heal, unlike a break of a bone for instance. Im still dealing with mine now when I ride my bike from my accidents in July and September. Take care.
Yay for signing up for your half marathon, but so sorry you are having back trouble from your accident :(. I hope it heals and you can start training full swing for your race! I bet the London Marathon would be amazing!!
I too am eyeing the London Marathon. Wouldn’t that be fun?
It sure would!
The spring weather in Iowa has had a brief relapse…..it’s looking much better after Monday, though. Hoping the “high 40-temps” are at least partially dry for my 13.1 tomorrow….
It sounds like you’re starting to get the marathon itch. Do you think you’ll go for London in 2018?
I’ve wanted to do a marathon for a few years now ad had the ich in 2015 but got sidelined with injury after injury. Now, I’m not so sure if I want to do all that training with my daughter’s getting more into their own sports. London 2018 isn’t in my radar but maybe in a few years when I hit 40 it would be fun to do!
I’m glad to hear you’re getting back on the road! I sure hope all your injuries are done. Wouldn’t that be nice?
Yes, that wpuod be amazing…including your RA!
We are having more of a summertime weather in San Diego (hence my latest post about Heatproofing my Runs)! London would be an awesome marathon. I runfess I secretly want to run all the marathon majors – Chicago will be the 3rd one so I’m halfway there! The overseas ones will be the challenge.
That is great that you registered for the had marathon! That is my favorite distance to run, Happy Training!! 🙂
It’s my favourite distance as well! Thanks.
I’ve been getting most of my runs on the treadmill lately too. The days have just been so wet + wind that it takes every piece of joy out of my run!
I figure treadmill wins are better then no runs! That’s my philosophy 🙂
You should totally run the London marathon! My first marathon was a world marathon and I had such a blast. It’d be a great first marathon for you. 🙂
Yeah, not sure if I’d do London as my first marathon, that would be intense!! But you never know!
I hear you on struggling to increase runs/mileage. I love both running and CF, but finding time for both is hard. Glad to hear that physio is over, and I hope you have fun training for your half!
I think CF (and other sports), really complement running ans make you stronger!
I decided to voluntarily leave my PT plan. Didn’t actually tell my PT that, but I’m guessing he got the idea when I never rescheduled. My bad. I’m just doing the exercises at home and hoping they will get me through. Good luck on your half marathon training!!
Honestly, I would love to run the London Marathon too! I’ve only done one marathon but it would be hard to resist running it if I somehow made it in the lottery!
It must feel great to be done with physical therapy!
Those first few runs back outside are always a bit of a mental challenge for me too!
You should go for it and do the London Marathon! What a fun experience that would be for your whole family!
Exciting news- you registered for a half! Way to push the button! Now it needs to warm up for you so you can get back out and running!
The London marathon sounds amazing, you should go for it!!!
