Blink your eyes and time just passes you by…can’t believe it’s July tomorrow! July is an exciting month for us – no school, summer day camps, coaching soccer, playing soccer, camping, I get a little older, vacation and tomorrow – July 1st – is Canada Day!!! Or Canada’s 150th birthday!
June was a rather nice month of running. I managed to get in a good number of kilometres, ran my first race of the year and got a few more freckles 🙂
June Runfessions
Runfession #1: I had the best morning run on Wednesday. Let me tell you about it. Tuesday night as I’m about to go to bed I said to my husband “I might run really early in the morning” but kinda hoping he’d talk me out of it. Nope, he didn’t. He just said “Okay” from him. I felt like I had to at least set out my running gear so I could be quick to get ready if I actually got up. So I set my alarm for 5:30 AM…WHAT!!!!!! NUTS!!! I had to be finished running, shower etc by 6:30 am.
At 5:30, I got out of bed totally regretting setting my alarm. I washed my face and managed to put on my running gear. I put on my sports bra inside out by mistake but it was dark in our bedroom but I fixed it before I left. Have you ever done that?
It was cool and perfect running weather. I left about 5:50 from my driveway and ran 5k around my subdivision before arriving back at home. I saw two runners and 1 dog walker . Only one other person was up, dressed and ready for summer day camp and the other two were snoozing away! It was a perfect morning run and I felt energized for the whole day!
Runfession #2: Sprinklers! If you saw my Instagram post on Wednesday morning, you’d notice that I may have run through sprinklers…or not! Did you know that running before 6am is prime time for sprinkler fun!!! Best morning run ever!
Runession #3: I had a few moments during my half marathon when I decided that I hated running. In fact, I hated running the half marathon distance and was close to giving up running that distances. Thankfully, I’ve changed my mind and about to start training for my 6th half marathon in September.
Runfession #4: I’m kinda miss doing my morning long runs! There is something peaceful about them. Whether it’s the fact that I’m up and out the door before my family gets up, time to myself, time with my running buddy or the enjoyment of coming home to my family – I kinda miss it. Good thing – I’ll be back at it possibly this weekend!
Runfessoin #5: I haven’t figured out my training plan for Maritime Race Weekend and I’m pretty sure this should be week #1 of training. Having said that – it’s been a great week of soccer games, coaching, running, yoga and a maybe a run this weekend too.
Do you have any runfessions from June?
What are you looking forward to the most in July?
Who is celebrating Canada 150 or 4th of July? What cha’ doing?
Happy last day of June!!!!
AND………
HAPPY CANADA 150!!!!
You can check out my other Runfession posts: May, April, March, February and January. I’m linking up with Marcia for today’s Runfessions post. It’s hosted on the last Friday of each month.
I’m also linking up with Running on Happy & Fairytales and Fitness for the Friday Five 2.0 linkup!
I love cool running weather in the morning. Perfect way to run!
I have a race on July 4th and then later in the day heading to my cousin’s house to eat and celebrate.
Happy Canada 150 to you as well. Have a lovely loooong weekend.
Ahh…the morning run magic. I love it so!! Happy weekend!
I feel like if I don’t get my morning run in outdoors then it’s so hot by the time I get home. I love how peaceful morning runs are too!
Nothing better than cool weather for runner – it’s the best!
Happy Canada Day!
I agree, I prefer early morning long runs. It’s so nice to get out of the house before everyone else is awake and demanding something or other.
Haha! I always hate running half marathons at about mile 10. I’ve also had some weird wanting to quit at mile 3. Not sure what that’s all about.
Happy Canada day! How do you celebrate Canada day?
After today’s HOT run, it is apparent that I need to get up much earlier to run in the morning!
I love the my early morning runs! The air is usually at its coolest, it’s quiet, and traffic is almost a nonissue. And the rest of he day is full of energy 😉
I’m glad to hear that the “I hate running” mindset was only temporary. Hopefully you’ll start to feel even better about running as your training for your next half gets underway.
Well a very happy Canada Day to you and all of your friends to the north! I am sooo bad at getting up early to run, which I usually regret. I just can’t seem to get my butt moving, but when I do, it feels great!
Happy Canada Day!
Sometimes, there really is nothing better than a first thing in the morning, get up and go run.
And sometimes, sleep is EVERYTHING ;D
Your early morning run sounds heavenly, and all in time! I’m planning to skate a 7:00 a.m. freestyle session tomorrow (for skating), so it’s going to be a 5:30 alarm for me, too!
