What a busy week! I’m starting to feel a little nervous at how fast this half marathon is approaching.
When I signed up for Maritime Race Weekend last December (yup!), it was just a plan. Now, it’s four weeks away. That’s four more weeks of running but also back to school and a whole new schedule for our family with both girls in school. This is going to be a short and sweet kinda of post.
What was Planned vs What Really Happened:
- Monday: Stretch & Strengthen | Coached U6 soccer one last time.
- Tuesday: 7k | Yoga. I went to my weekly yoga class.
- Wednesday: 40 minute tempo run| 5k Runch. Rough run.
- Thursday: 5k + Strengthen|16k Long Run. You can read about it here.
- Friday: Rest Day| Rest Day. Nailed it again!
- Saturday: 8k Pace | 2 Soccer Games in the rain (1 win, 1 loss)
- Sunday: 16k Long Run| 2 Soccer Games in the heat and humidity (1 win, 1 loss).
It rained so much here Saturday, my whole body was soaked playing soccer – dripping socks and all. Sunday was extremely hot and humid, it was like night and day. Muddy/grassy cleats after Saturday’s games:
I missed lots of running this week – roughly 13-15 km but I’m pretty sure the 4 games of soccer on the weekend made up for any missed mileage. Do you know how much you can run in a 60 minute soccer game? All I can say is that I’m thankful for subs!
Weekly mileage: 21k running, 4 soccer games, 1 yoga class.
This coming week we have absolutely nothing going on in the evenings….NOTHING!!!! I’m hoping I can get in a few morning runs, my long run and maybe even some strength training – you know, that workout I’ve been basically ignoring for the last eight weeks. Sorry for the short post. I managed to sprain my pinky finger playing soccer (collision with a group of people), so I’m trying not to use it much.
How was your weekend?
When was the last time you played (ran, walked) outside in the rain?
Anyone race this weekend? I know there were some local races here!
I’m linking up today with Ponder ‘N’ Wonder, HoHo Runs, and MissSippiPiddlin.
Don’t hate me, but I’m giggling that you sprained a finger playing a game that is supposed to have no hands involved (but we all know this is a lie)
I know, right!!! There was a collision of 4-5 people – I don’t quite remember but my hand/finger his my team mate and bent back. It felt horrible and is a few shades of purple today.
Oh yeah, the soccer games more than made up for the missing mileage. I’m always amazed at how much running soccer players do on the field!
Soccer does look like lots of running to me! I say that counts hope you have a great week
It was non-stop running 🙂
Like you, I always nail my rest days! LOL! I think you’re doing more than you give yourself credit for, mama!
Even though it didn’t go as planned you still got some great workouts in. My weekend was good! went by too fast!
Yes, my weekend went by way too fast as well!
Isn’t that crazy how quickly races come up?! You’re doing great. 🙂
Yes, they just sneak up on you when you least expect it, haha!
Those cleats! OMG!
It was a crazy weekend – I had a long run, an overnight trip to Orlando, a blogger event and tons of freelance work to do. I need to find my next race.
I think I have something scheduled for every night this week. It’s a little overwhelming.
Take one day at a time girl!
I have not been out in the rain in quite awhile. I had my chance yesterday, but it was a torrential downpour… with thunder (so there was probably the potential for lightning). I chose to stay inside 😉
Smart decision!
What a week! You are doing such a great job. It must feel wild to finally get in the swing of summer and now have to get back in the swing of school. Exhausting! I love running in the rain, but it has been quite some time since I had the chance. Last year during marathon training I ended up in a down pour. It was nuts!
Soccer is non-stop so I’m sure you got a lot of running in this week.I haven’t run in the rain in a while – it’s just worked out that it’s rained on my non-run days of late. (Of course, by saying that I’ve now just jinxed myself! LOL!)
Fun week! I did a speed workout in the rain last December and its as so exhilarating and FUN!
I love running in the rain! So long as there is no thunder or lightning I’m there! 🙂
I often wear my garmin for my field hockey games – you should do that for soccer!! Typically run 5km during a game…the impressive part is always what my top speed is!
Four soccer games is a lot of running. Have you ever worn your Garmin watch during a soccer game? Just curious. I rode my bike over 40 miles in light rain a couple of weeks ago. It’s the best ride I’ve had in a long time since the rain made everything so much cooler!
We aren’t allowed to wear any watches, rings or earrings. Such a bummer as it would be fun to know how far I run ans at what speed. Nothing like a great ride like that!!!
Oh I feel your pain with the sprained finger. The only bone that I’ve ever broken is one of my fingers. It was in PE class my sophomore year of high school when I went to try and catch a football. Oops!
