I didn’t really want to say Goodbye to summer but with the weather we are having the last 4-5 days, it still feels like hot summer days! I’ll eventually embrace fall with cozy sweaters, socks and maybe even a cup of tea. Who am I kidding, it will be hot chocolate – not a tea drinker.
One thing we do every fall is go apple picking. We’ve been going to Gates Farm in Port William (NS) for the last three years. This past weekend, we decided to go last minute. They do a wagon ride around their orchard and tell you the best spots to pick the apples or pears. We even got some small pumpkins – it just fees too early for pumpkins 😉
Hiking through the fields
You can’t go apple/pear picking without tasting 1 of each. OR 2,3,4…..!
Pretty sure this bag is too heavy Mom!
After filling these two bags, she was calling it a day!
One last stop to check out the sunflowers.
In the end, we had two – 10lbs bags of mixed apples and pears! Guess I should get baking! I’m hoping we can get in a corn maze and some pumpkin people next month! It’s hard to believe that October is next week!
What’s the one thing you are looking forward to the most this fall?
Do you go apple, pear, or pumpkin picking?
Is it feeling like fall or still summer for you?
It’s been crazy hot here lately, too. Thankfully, it looks like fall weather will be moving in later in the week. Fall is my favorite, and I’m anxious for boots, sweaters, and cooler running weather!
It’s unbelievable hot right now but I think we are expecting proper fall weather later this week as well. It’s going to be a shocker!
I better pencil in a weekend for our trip to the Valley for apple picking before all the weekends fill up. I’m almost flat out of apply jelly! 🙂 Looks like the girls had a great time.
Yes, you’ll have to come! Let me know if you do and maybe we can meet you there!
What a fun adventure! I love summer and always have a hard time seeing it go. Fall is beautiful but the idea of winter coming makes me a bit sad. That being said, fall adventures like apple picking are so awesome. What a wonderful time to spend with your family.
