With the first week of the year finished and on snow day number three for my kids, I have to confess I didn’t workout much last week! I’m linking up with Holly and Wendy for the Weekly Wrap – lots of great bloggers to read about here!
Monday Jan 1st. Happy New Year!!!
Traditionally, I’ve run my first kilometre of the year with my kids. It started about 4 years ago with my oldest wanting to join me and I figured why not. We bundle up with the plan of running 1k together on a loop around where we live.
The second year my youngest joined us and last year since my husband was home, he joined us as well. This year it was me, my girls and our retired sled dog Carmacks while Saï was working. It was late in the day and we had to walk our dog so figured we’d get in a run instead.
Both girls were loving it! Bundled up as it was STUPID cold, we ran one lap around (1k) and then decided to do another lap. I’m not sure what Carmacks was thinking of both girls running with he and I but there was lots of laughter and excited by all!
Tuesday – Ski Day. I took the girls skiing while Saï worked again (shift work). We had a great day on the bunny hill despite the fridge temperatures. Both girls were loving it and would have stayed all day! My Dad met us as well, which is always fun. That allowed for me to get in three runs by myself, thanks Dad!
Wednesday: Ski Day! With the girls back to school, I was on my last vacation day. I had a PT appointment for my hip first thing and then drove to Ski Martock to ski with my Dad again. We got in some good runs…man he is way faster then me! To give credit, he does ski almost every weekday from January – March.
Thursday/Friday – Bomb cyclone hit us (snow, freezing rain and then hurricane winds). I worked from home those days while the girls played in the house (I may have gone a little crazy). I did get in some foam rolling on these items I won from Travel Roller (hands down the best form roller I have):
Saturday: It was spent cleaning the whole house – yuck! Mopping floors, 5 loads of laundry, cleaning three bathrooms (never own a house with three bathrooms). I was done by the end of the day. No running or anything else.
Sunday: We played outside for a bit, folded laundry that I didn’t get to and made some awesome soups – Chunky Tomate Beefy Soup and Leek & Potato – both so good!
That was my first week of 2018. I only ran 2km, went skiing twice and missed one soccer game and failed to start the Strava 40/80 challenge! It started off great and then went downhill fast. I have no excuses as I have a treadmill and my bike on it’s trainer. It’s okay, today’s the start of another week!
