Last week was what I would say a low and lazy week. I was feeling under the weather for most of it and by the end of the week came down with a nasty head cold. You know, weekends are make for fun…not head colds and sick!
Jan 22nd – 28th
I did a few work outs last week but nothing big. It went a little like this:
Monday Jan 22nd: Nothing. But I sure got a lot of sleep that night.
Tuesday: Nothing again. However, my husband and I went to the Banff Film Festival in Wolfville which was awesome! It was a series of films from 4 – 30 minutes in length, everything from climbing to badass women slack liners and mountain bikers, to a 90 female skater and major expeditions on glaciers.
Wednesday: Nothing, other then PT exercises and walking our dog.
Thursday: 5km Treadmill Run + PT exercises. Treadmill run was nice and easy though it felt like I haven’t run in ages …. which I haven’t. It was a wear your Tiux compression socks kind of night! {Check out my discount page here}
Friday: Physiotherapy appointment which went well and more sleep that night. Felt horribly sick that night.
Saturday: Walked the dog. Took the girls to their basketball jamboree and yes, more sleep.
Sunday: Skating and walked the dog. Light skating with Hilary while Lilly was at a birthday party. Again, more sleep.
Though this week was pretty low and lazy, I needed it. I’m not training for anything and my body just needed to rest a lot this week. I’ve been just trying to feel better so rest, sleep, hydration and good food…okay, maybe some bad food in there too (let’s be honest)
It’s another week and we’re expecting a snow storm tonight and tomorrow! Woohoo! Yup, I love snow and hoping to get out our snow shoes!!!
How was your week?
Ever lay low for a whole week THEN get super sick?
What’s one thing you are looking forward to this week?
I don’t always post on here but you can find me posting daily over at Instagram.
I’m linking up with Holly and Wendy for the Weekly Wrap today.
So sorry to hear about your head cold – that’s the worse!
I think sometimes our bodies just need a little RnR and we have to listen. We push our bodies so hard, especially when we’re training for something, so it’s no wonder that we need to take a little downtime.
Yup, this head cold is just handing on for dear life…sadly!
I have not been skating in so long! Hope you are feeling better this week
I grew up with a skating rink in our backyard but don’t do it enough now.
I’m so sorry you got sick again! I have been so busy at my clinic with all the sick kids who have been coming in. This is a bad winter!
My sister and I went to a film festival Saturday night too–same kind of films. How fun!
It sure is a bad winter for colds. Wasn’t the film festival great! It was our second year going. Have you ever seen “Four Mums in a Boat”? Hilarious and amazing story. Literally, four Mum’s from Britian that boat across the Atlantic Ocean. It was one of my favourite films from last year.
Every now and then we need a lazy week.
At least you are not training for anything.
I travel a lot for work but this week I get to sleep in my own bed ALL WEEK.
Bonus for sleeping in your own bed!!!
Sorry you’ve been sick – sounds like we had similar weeks 😦 Hope you’re feeling better soon!
We sure did have similar weeks! Hopefully we are both back to normal soon!
There is nothing wrong with a “lazy” week, especially if your body needs the rest. I ice skated some as a kid, but have not skated since. It was actually one thing this clumsy body of mine could do without hurting itself LOL
Funny thing is that I fell skating while trying to pick up my daughter and get her off the ice! I bruised my knee in the process. Minor fall but for all to see!
I’m sorry to hear you were sick. Sometimes, we just simply need to rest. It’s not lazy, just necessary. I can’t remember the last time I went ice skating. We have a rink here in town and I’m sure I went a few times when the kids were little. I’m certain I’ve never used show shoes though. That sounds cool! Thanks for linking.
Yes, a rest week was needed!!! Snow shoeing is so much fun!
I hope you are feeling better this week! Sometimes a week of rest is just what we need even though that’s not always easy to do!
Yes, a week of rest was needed!
Rest is good and sometimes your body just needs and craves it. Heres hoping for a better week.
Rest does a body good!
I always get sick when I slow down:(
My kids brought it home from school 😦
Yup they bring it to school too:(
Oh, no! You’re not supposed to get sick when you slow down! What’s the motivation for resting when that’s the outcome???
I’m sorry you weren’t feeling well 😦
I am glad you were able to get a little bit of a rest, though. It’s good for all of us.
My body just wanted to rest last week I guess!
Sometimes you just need a down week. I hope that head cold clears up and you can get back to a regular schedule soon!
It’s slow going but I’m going to brave the cold later and get out to play in the snow with my kids. Hoping that helps to kick it!
Your skating photo reminded me of how my kids want to try ice skating but are too scared! I like how your daughter is using a chair for balance. Hope you feel better this week.
Our rinks usually have skating aids but this one only had chairs…it still helped!
And thanks!
I hope you are feeling better soon! My kids have been struggling with the same miserable cold!!
Sometimes rest is just necessary. I can always tell when I’m about to get sick because I’m suddenly so exhausted and feel like I could sleep for days. I hope you feel better soon!!
Good for you for taking care of yourself and taking a week to relax and lay low. Sometimes we all need that, especially when we’re focusing on self care.
Hope you are feeling better! Rest is an important part of training life!
oh my I’m sorry you were feeling so ill. That sucks! I don’t usually get sick at all, but when I do it’s a total nightmare. So I really feel for you! hopefully you are already on the mend now.
