Confession – I don’t remember the last time I ran outside. I literally, had to look it up on Garmin Connect just. It was February 10th.
So, its only been two weeks since my last run, that doesn’t seem too bad. It was a shitty run, that’s why I don’t care to remember it. Before the 10th, I ran with Carmacks on the 3rd. Though not an awesome run, it was better than my last run, as I ran with him.
We’ve been skiing a little bit, skating this past weekend on a local outdoor rink and I’ve had a few soccer games here and there.
And yes, I count soccer towards my running mileage because I AM RUNNING. Sprint, recover, sprint, recover, jog, walk, sprint, recovery over and over again for 60 minutes. I’ve been getting between 5.3 km and 6 km during one-60 minute soccer game.
Even though I’m not running outside right now, I love playing soccer, skiing and skating with my kids. I’d much rather do an activity with my family, then on my own. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good solo run or soccer game where I can get lost for an hour.
This time last year I had already racked up some big mileage on my bike….not this year and that’s okay too.
I have no spring races planned and I have no clue why I haven’t registered or sorted out a training plan yet. I guess it will happen when it happens.
What winter activities are you loving right now?
What’s your biggest motivation right now?
Ever forget when you last ran?
My running is currently thumbs down. I did get to run outside all last week when I was in Florida which was amazing!
THAT would be amazing!!! Here’s to better running in the coming weeks for both of us!
I’m done with any and all winter activities. I’m hoping to put winter clothes away in the next few weeks and not see them again until November. I’m obviously hoping for some warmer weather here.
I’m not quite done with winter yet but give me two more weeks and I think I’ll be done with it! π
I can’t remember when I ran outside either. It’s so awful here too. I count everything for my mileage too whether it is walking or hiking. Right now the only winter I am enjoying is staying warm.
I should start counting my walking too….I walk my dog 2.5k almost every day. That add’s up! Warm is lovely, isn’t it!!!
My mileage is down due to the fact it’s tough to find a safe spot to run outside right now:(
Doing what you love is what it is all about!
doing what you love is key!!! It’s already summer here in Florida so my running will slow down just as quickly as it started!!
I am enjoying so many other activities, it’s possible to not miss running – but I usually do after a week or so. You have so much going on — enjoy soccer and skating and everything else!
This relentless winter weather can definitely affect running, but doing what you love is key! That’s really what life should be all about π
My big motivator is keeping my endurance so when I can finally get back outside (on a consistent level), I’ll be able to just GO π Indoor running is not my gig, but it’s what I have available when the temps/snow/ice are just not worth the risk to head outside.
You are active thatβs why you donβt miss running.
Our winter is endless. Running is my only activity. So I canβt wait to do it regularly.
Soccer involves A TON of running!
Our winter activities are very much the same as summer activities here, with less swimming. We’re enjoying the end of the cold snap and getting out for more walks and hikes.
Running is just one of those things I always do. I’ll maybe go five days without, but then I’m right back in there.
It’s great that you’re staying so active during the winter! We haven’t done any skiing this winter so when I can’t run I’ve basically been hibernating in the gym. I need it to warm up!
Isnt a soccer game equivalent to 5 miles? Sounds like running to me and sometimes a welcome variation. Looks like you had a great week!
My running has been down lately too! It is so icy here in Maine that I have to stick to the treadmill… I’m so ready for Spring!!
I try to train all year. Right now I’m training for Boston and just returned from my Tuesday night run. It was 22F.
I have lost my mojo before, but it’s been a few years. Having a race to train for usually keeps me motivated.
As long as you’re doing something and having fun, it’s all good. π
I’ve just been getting back into running again over the last couple of months and for me the biggest motivation is knowing that I don’t have to do it – sounds a bit weird, I know, but taking the pressure off means there’s nothing to lose if the run doesn’t go to plan, so every run is a win.
