Summer Fit Gear Exchange ~ Canadian Sweat Pink Ambassadors

Oh Monday morning, we meet again! So bitter sweet after 5 days off work as I had a mini vacation since Canada Day. I’ve run outside a lot, had a yard $ale, spent the weekend with my little family, date night with my husband and swam in a lake with our girls. Best 5 days off in a while! I even took a mini vacation from social media!!!!

I’m excited to share the Summer Fit Gear Exchange with you. A few Canadian Sweat Pink Ambassadors decided to do a Summer Fit Gear Exchange last month!

Janelle from Wholly Healthy Blog sent me a package! First off, my reaction was “Who’s sending me stuff from the Running Room” and then “Did I win something I don’t know about”. I also wondered if Sai had bought me something for my birthday from the Running Room and had it delivered to the house…but nope! Janelle was super on top of her gear exchange and got me ALL of this:

Buff headband; Asics headbands (3), GU brew; honey Stinger and Ultima Replenisher and a lovely letter.  When I finally opened the package and took everything out, my reaction was “Holy shit”!!!! Seriously, she got me all this! I really was blown away! I absolutely loved everything and will use everything! Thank you Janelle so much!

I got to buy for Laura from Healthy Foodies, Losing Booties! I really wanted to find something related to Zumba since that’s one of her loves (besides her husband and two cute kids). I didn’t have any success with the Zumba theme but managed to put together some other items I thought she would like!

Vega bars and vega hydrator (my favs), a purple towel for after working out, salt water taffy after I saw she liked it, a gift card to Starbucks, colourful hair ties and a book. The book says “girls just wanna have fun!” on the front and I wrote a bunch of quotes and a few recipes in it with the plan for her to add to it.

Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Awards

It’s snowing like crazy here! Lilly and I have already done one around of shoveling and I’m sure I’ll be doing another round tonight –> Guess I am getting an upper body workout in today and maybe a run later tonight on “The Beast“.

Last week I was tagged in a blog post by the lovely Helly from Helly On The Run (Thanks Helly!!!). She recently rocked out a sub 2 hour 1/2 Marathon (and she has two little ones with the youngest around 6 months old). Hard Core Mama!!!

Here we go:

The Rules:

1. Post the logo on your blog.
2. Thank the person who nominated you.
3. Answer the questions.
4. Choose 10 or so other ladies who blog as your nominees.
5. Post the links to the nominees’ blogs and notify them on their blog.

1. What is your favorite color? I love cobalt blue, hands down my favourite colour. Then purple. I wear a lot of purple running, to work and just around the house but cobalt blue is where my heart sits.

2. Favourite Animal? Things is a tough one. We have the most amazing Inuit Husky, so I’m a little attached to her. But I also think Sandpiper’s are pretty cool. Long legs, eat tones of fish, leave on the beach and they have spots kinda like I have freckles 😉

2008: First day together :)

2008: First day together 🙂

Really, I like them because I’m named after them. No, Anna is no form of Sandpiper. But, if you’ve read my about me page you’ll know that my nickname to some is Sandpiper. It was a name I chose years ago when I was teaching Earth Education programs. Mainly, other staff called me Piper….hence Piper’s Run!

3. Favorite Non-Alcoholic Drink: Hummm……I guess I would say Silk Soy Chocolate Milk. It’s one of my go-to special treats that I have every so often. I love having it after a long, hard run.

4. Facebook or Twitter? I’m more of a Facebook fan. I love that I can see my family and friends plus their kids growing up, their adventures and milestones. I try hard not to spend too much time on FB as I don’t want it to consume my life…however, I’ll be honest, some days it does. Then I have days when I have zero time for it and playing catch-up on FB takes way too long. Twitter and I are still trying to figure life out together. I’ve got an account (@PipersRun) and every so often tweet but then I just kinda forget about it. It can be hard to write just 140 characters 😉

5. Favorite Pattern? I don’t have a favourite pattern but I’d have to say I do like stripes socks. Not sure why but I find them fun to wear!

6. What is your passion? Besides my little family? These sweet little girls are pretty awesome and it’s hard not to be passionate about them and their Dad.

Being active is my other passion. I’m passionate about getting other’s active, working with others to get more people active and trying to role model that within my own family. I’m a Regional Physical Activity Coordinator during the day so I can be mommy, wife, friend at night/weekends. I love what I do and those I work with so it makes it easy to go to work every day.

These are a few my favourite female bloggers. They inspire me to be active and I enjoy following their blogs. Some  are new to me, some old…some from far away and some, okay…… all but one are all far away from me. Hope you check them out!

So, here we go

Seven Things You Don’t Know About Me:

1. I like painting my finger nails when they are super short. Weird – maybe. I just find the colour looks better on short nails than long nails. My nails are purple right now.

2. I am on the fence if I ever want to run a FULL MARATHON. It’s not on my bucket list yet because I want to run another 1/2 marathon first and see if I can balance training for the distance, raising a family of 2, working full-time and not failing at any of those things. Plus a FULL MARATHON is a lot of commitment and a crazy distance I am unsure about. If i do consider one it would be after my next 1/2 marathon.

3. I want to run in every major race in Nova Scotia; be it a 5k, 10k, 1/2 Marathon or shorter distance. I want to explore my province through running races. I’ve explored it while playing competitive soccer for numerous years but a soccer fields doesn’t differ from another soccer field. Running races have different locations, times of year, require traveling with my family and supporting local events.

4. I want to take a photography course someday. I love taking pictures and having acquired my husbands nice Sony camera since Lilly was born. Hey – I didn’t want to miss a moment. But seriously, I would love to learn more about photography and eventually take pictures of friends baby’s, weddings etc, as a hobby.

5. I love the name Liam. It’s my ultimate boy’s name. I’ve loved it since I was a teenager and convinced myself that if I ever had a boy, we’d name it Liam. Well, when I got married, I inherited many nieces and nephews – one named Liam. We can’t have two Liam S. in the same family – even if one is in England and ours would be in Canada. I.Just. Can’t. Do. It.

6. I want to hike Mount Kilimanjaro. This has been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember. It’s a place that I hope my husband and maybe even children can travel to some day and hike/experience.

7. I am secretly waiting for the snow to fall (guess it’s not a secret anymore). I LOVE winter, I think I may even LIVE for winter and snow. After working for 5 winters at an outdoor centre, it has given me a better appreciation for winter. I learned to cross-country ski (one of my favourite things to do) and snowshoe. That winter camping can be just as fun as summer camping. That Broomball is a competitive sport that I love (and miss doing) – even all those bruises on my knees. I also love running in the winter – I think I actually peak at running in the winter! I sure am looking forward to the first snow fall in Nova Scotia.
