Manitoba Hemp Hearts Review & Giveaway (US & CAN)

For the last month or so I’ve been adding these little hemp hearts to almost everything I eat! Manitoba Hemp Hearts to be exact!

I add them to smoothies, yogurt and granola, salads, you name it and I usually add them into the meal! I’m not going to lie, I was a little unsure before I tried them as I thought they would be really grainy.

After trying them the first time, I actually really liked them. They are soft and taste good. Not grainy or hard like I thought they might be. I liked them so much that I went and bought a big bag from our local grocery store.

I plan on using them in some other foods I make: banana bread, no bake energy bites (I’ve altered my recipe and will share soon) and in the Oh She Glow’s granola bars I make. These are definitely a daily eat for me now.

What are hemp hearts?

Hemp Hearts are shelled hemp seeds.

Fun facts:

  • At the ‘heart’ of all our hemp foods is the Hemp Heart (aka raw shelled hemp seed).
  • Hemp Hearts contain 10 grams of omegas per 30 gram serving
  • Hemp Hearts are a complete vegetarian protein
  • Hemp Hearts contain 10 grams of protein per 30 grams servings
  • Hemp Hearts are hypoallergenic
  • Hemp Hearts are Non-GMO Project Verified

Tranquil Force – Fitness Gear With Flair Giveaway

I’d love to say that recently I had the opportunity to review these pretty neat headbands from Alisha at Force but she sent them to me in the summer and well…it’s no longer summer. My apologies for not getting this post up. Having said that….I’ve got a few headbands to giveaway!

What I liked about them:

  • Comfortable (cozy)
  • Colourful
  • Easy to put on
  • Easy to wrap around wrist and use to wipe off sweat (I know, I know it’s not what it was made for but it worked)
  • My girls loved wearing them. Actually, come to thing of it, Lilly wears mine a lot!

Little H rocking out the headband!

I did have some challenges with it falling off my head. Granted I was going from running to jumping jacks to push ups and burpees when I tested them out. Also, I was too focused on keeping it folded and should have just opened it up fully to wear it – see below.

AMRAP Review & Giveaway!

Recently I was given the opportunity to review AMRAP bars. The bars arrived the day after I was supposed to post the review…what can ya do?!??! Anyway, they arrived and I’ve managed to taste them all without reading anyone else’s review(s), not an easy thing to do.

AMRAP creates food that is 100% Paleo, gluten-free, GMO-free, dairy-free, and unprocessed. Raw whole foods, like almond chunks, are a top priority in our bars because we know from experience it is clean fuel that feeds our bodies’ daily activity the best. Our bars have an optimal research-based combination of good proteins and carbs for well-rounded athletes. Recommended for a meal supplement or replacement, and especially a pre or post-workout snack.

Piper’s Review:

I had three bars to test out: Almond & Honey, Fig and Cacao, and Cashew & Vanilla. I brought them to work as I thought they looked fairly large that I couldn’t eat all three at once…or even in three days. My co-worker, Melissa and I tested them out and this is what we thought.

AMRAP

Food Facts on the Fig & Cacao

Bar #1: Cashew & Vanilla (we actually tried this one last)

It wasn’t great. The vanilla tasted weird and neither one of us could figure out why. We both felt the texture was weird and had a rush of sweet like cake batter when you bit into it.

Bar #2: Almond & Honey (middle of the pack)

The smell was awesome as soon as we opened the packaging. The nuts were still crunchy and it wasn’t dense like other protein bars. It wasn’t heavy. We both loved this one.

Bar #3: Fig & Cacao (we tried this one first)

It was good. You see all the ingredients lists and it didn’t taste artificial. Another one for the win!

Overall: We both really liked the Almond & Honey and Fig & Cacao but felt the Cashew & Vanilla just didn’t cut it for us. We’d both would buy these and recommend them.

They tasted home-made and didn’t look, feel or taste “processed”.
