My Race Ragz Review & GIVEAWAY!!!

Whoop Whoop! A review and a giveaway for YOU!!!

At the beginning of September I had an opportunity to connect with Jenny from MetamorFit through Fit Approach on Facebook as Sweat Pink Ambassadors. She recently joined forces with My Race Ragz; a pretty cool company that allows you to design your own running shirts.

My experience:

I have to say it was pretty easy to design the shirt …. once you chose the design you wanted!

There website is super easy to use and figure out how to design your shirt. They have over 700 designs you can choose from but have it set up in categories so you can easily find a theme and look for the best design that suits you. Categories like: 5k, 13.1, Bike, Grandparents, Kids, Maternity, Love to Run, Men/Women, Ultra etc.

They give you a lot of choices when designing your shirt: shirt style (long, short, v-neck); different fonts, colours and framing around your chosen design; all on a white moisture wicking shirt.

A few examples of designs:

After looking through all the designs, I finally chose one that felt close to home:

Piper's Run - this is how I roll

Front: I chose “This is how I Roll” with a few extra flowers around the outside. These days I don’t get to run on my own very often and usually have baby Hilary in our jogging stroller. I thought it was fitting.

Back: I got “Piper’s Run” as I wanted to share my blog name with people. I really should have added the URL¬†to my blog but I just wasn’t sure at the time of order.

I’m really hoping the weather is nice this weekend as I’m running a 5k at the Valley Harvest Marathon. It would be awesome to wear this shirt!

DSC04080

Two thumbs up (okay, one thumb up but only because I’m taking a selfie)

The shirt arrived in pretty good time considering I live in Canada and it had to go through customs etc. When I opened the package I fell in love with it right away. The fabric was nice and soft, the graphics are awesome, the colours are pretty vibrant and it felt really good on. So good that I could have worn it all day.

Their sizing is spot-on! After having two children you never know what size you’ll be and I didn’t want to have something that was too small or too big.

I chose the v-neck style as I don’t like anything up around my neck when running. It will be awesome in the spring/summer/fall here in Nova Scotia but I could also wear it under a long-sleeved shirt and jacket in the winter time. Yeah, I like to run in the winter ūüôā ¬†I plan on wearing it when I workout at home too… it’s not just for running.

Overall, I really love this shirt. It such a fun way to express who you are and what you do through running (biking, triathlon etc). I would totally recommend designing your own shirt and wearing it for running, walking, biking, at the gym etc.

Now your turn:

Please note – you need to live in the US to enter this contest.

Sorry fellow Canadians, we have to sit this one out.

Now to enter please click on this link –>¬†a Rafflecopter giveaway¬†<–

The contest is open Oct 8/13 to Oct 13/13. A winner will be selected, contacted and announced on this blog.

A big thanks to My Race Ragz Website and Jenny from MetamorFit Blog for providing me with an opportunity to review your products and provide a giveaway to my readers.

Please note: I was not paid to do this review, these are my own thoughts and experience with My Race Ragz.

Good luck!

#SweatPink Shoelace {Giveaway}

If I could choose one thing to do today it would be to go for the longest, hardest run that I could. My body is aching for a good long, challenge run. But at 37 weeks pregnant, it’s just not possible for me to do so – even though my mind is wanting to my body needs rest (at least that’s what my Dr. say’s). So a little prenatal yoga and little walks it is for me.

Just over a month ago I was lucky enough to join the Sweat Pink crew with Fit Approach as an Ambassador. Since becoming a sweat pink ambassador I moved into my third trimester of this pregnancy and have been limited to what workouts I can do ūüė¶

You know, for a girl who’s pretty active (running at lunch time to fit one in, working out at home while our toddler sleeps and finding any excuse to walk a little more), it’s been pretty hard limited my “fitness” recently. But I know I’ll get back into a routine once this baby arrives and I’m feeling good to do so.

In the mean time, I have two sweet pairs of Sweat Pink “Pink Laces”¬†to giveaway!!!

sweat pink ambassador

To win a pair of pink laces:

Leave a comment telling me how you get your “sweat pink” on AND why?

(Why are you active?)

I will pick two winners on Friday November 30th 2012 at noon (Atlantic Time Zone).

(Unless I am having our baby, then I will pick to random winners ASAP).

Open to those in Canada or US. Contest open for 1 week, winners chosen at random.

Great Run, Awards, Taste of Nature Review and Giveaway !

Today I went out for my first run since I came down with this nasty cold and strep throat last week. The first 4 minutes were terrible but I kept running anyway. ¬†Then all of a sudden I got back into a good stride, my posture felt really good and I was able to push my speed a bit – it was great. Sure got me motivated to run more this coming week and I’m starting to feel better so that’s a big bonus.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
About a month ago, I was nominated for a Fitterati Award (Best Healthy Living Blog) at Fitness Magazine. The contest is ending soon and I could sure use a few more votes! To vote – go to this link here¬†and help a girl out ūüėȬ†Thanks.
AND….drum roll ……………. last week I received notification that I have been awarded a Leibster Award from Mountainmissy: Living on Mountain Time. I will be blogging about that in a little more detail later this week – stay tuned.
Now to the Review and Giveaway!
A few weeks ago, I received a box of goodies from Taste of Nature – these amazing bars (Certified Vegan, Gluten Free, Certified Kosher, Organic, etc.). And Canadian – I’m a little proud of that one. ūüôā
Taste of Nature  Website
“Taste of Nature‚Äôs 100% certified organic bars are vegan, Kosher, non-GMO and are made with the very best ingredients the world has to offer. And yes, they taste as good as they look!”
Since my husband is a vegan, we decided to try a few (those that were vegan) and write down our first thought after eating the bar.
Exotics Caribbean Ginger Island:
Sai – Powerful ginger taste. I liked it and would most likely eat it again.
Anna – The ginger gave it a nice kick – not too powerful but flavourful. I would totally eat this again.
Persian Pomegranate Garden:
Sai – Nice mix of flavours.
Anna – Very berry tasting.
Argentina Peanut Plains:
Sai – A little dry, basic bar. I would eat it again but not my first choice.
Anna – Very peanut-y but not peanut butter tasting. I was thinking it would taste more peanut buttery but glad it didn’t.
Nova Scotia Blueberry Fields:
Sai – Nice mix of taste, perfect for a summer day.
Anna РPowerful punch of blueberries Рdelish!
Over all thoughts:
Sai – Taste of Nature bars are great for a quick snack; nice variety of flavours and I like the Persian Pomegranate Garden the best.
Anna – I’ve discovered I like the combination of nuts and berries. The Nova Scotia Blueberry Fields was my favourite (yes, I live in Nova Scotia but that has nothing to do with me liking the bar the best). It’s just simply that good!
I would love to try the Canadian Maple Forest and Niagara Apple Country bars – but those are two I am giving away. (yeah for you!).
I’ve also tried (prior to this review) the Mediterranean Pistachio Passion and the Quebec Cranberry Carnival and managed to find a box at Costco this past weekend! It also includes the Brazilian Nut Fiesta. These are my new go to bar when I need a little something to get me to the next meal or even after a quick workout.
March Foodie Penpal
Remember when you were a kid and you sent a letter to a penpal (so far away) and then waited in anticipation for a letter to be returned? Ahhh, Penpals. So much fun, mystery, yet rewarding.
Last month I participated in Foodie Penpal for the first time, you can read about it here. I decided to do it again in March (and April).  Andrea at Vegvacious had me as her foodie penpal.
Vegvacious is a great blog about healthy eating, fitness and positive thinking. Andrea has some delicious recipe’s.
This is what Andrea sent me:
Lilly wanted the little carrot (surprising, as she doesn’t like to eat them)
I love chocolate, so we dove right into the PC Organics Dark Chocolate Bar:
And in recent news, a new study shows¬†people who eat dark chocolate¬†frequently tend to have a lower body mass index than those who don’t.¬†Frequent consumption of dark chocolate is tied to a lower body mass index, researchers say.
Breakfast time I decided to try the Oat Clusters & Love (Love Grown) Granola:
Sweet Cranberry Coconut Pecan
I paired it with coconut yogurt and blueberries – delish!
I’ve pretty much eaten this every morning since then.
And, Lilly likes it too! Bonus.
Then I tired the Vega Whole Food Smoothie Infusion one morning.
My husband has had these before, but I’ve never tried it.
I have to admit, it was really good. Gave a little kick and flavour to my smoothie.
I like that it has a variety of protein; yellow pea, organic hemp, sprouted flax seeds, brown rice protein.
You can also use it as a topping on other foods or as a partial substitute for flour in baking.
And, yes Lilly liked the smoothie too!
The only think I have yet to try (take a picture of) was the Spice Rub (Wildly Delicious Fine Foods).
Spice blend for vegetables.
Andrea read on my blog in 12 in 2012, that I want to cook all vegan meals for one week as my husband is a vegan. I am not a vegan so this is going to be a challenge for me. These spices are going to be perfect for a few meals I have planned.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

 I sent Robin in Alberta a Foodie Penpal package; I sent her 3 different bags of Pop Chips, Almonds, Just Us Green Tea, and a few other things I cannot remember. I even forgot to take a picture Рmy bad.

To cute to use (for now).

Wanna know more about Foodie Penpal :

The Lean Green Bean

-On the 5th of every month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)
-Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you are to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.
-Foodie¬†Penplas is open to US & Canadian residents.¬† Please note, Canadian Residents will be paired with other Canadians only. We’ve determined things might get too slow and backed up if we’re trying to send foods through customs across the border from US to Canada and vice versa. So, I’m going to keep two separate lists and match US w/ US and Canada w/ Canada!
If you’re interested in participating for April, please CLICK HERE to fill out the participation form and read the terms and conditions. You must submit your information by April 4th as pairings will be emailed on April 5th!

Don’t forget about the Booty Bun Cloth Diaper Giveaway¬†– ends March 31st.

And, keep an eye out Sunday…I’ll be doing my second giveaway (review)…a little tasty Canadian treat.

Cheers!

Pipers’ Run (Anna).
