Happy 2021!!!

Happy New Year….a few days late.

I’m not the best blogger lately as I’ve been busy with other things and making this less and less of a priority in my life….and that’s okay. Setting boundaries is my new jam!

2020 was a shit-year for many and I’m really glad it’s over. Restrictions, extended winter school break, lockdowns, no go zones (that’s what I’m calling hot zones we aren’t allow to travel into due to outbreaks), not seeing family or friends in person, stress galore made saying goodbye to 2020 easy!

We’ve had one significant snow fall here and we took advantage of that last weekend. Sledding and winter hikes have been our go-to with our daughters for the last 5 days.

I’ve been plugging away at the Winter of Coast Mountain Trail Running Scavenger Hunt over the last 5 weeks and only have two badges to go. 5k Time Trial, New Years Eve/Day Run Streak, Christmas Run Streak and a few others. I should be finished by this weekend which is exciting. It’s been great to keep me accountable and something good to focus on.

Xmas Trail Scavenger Hunt

My girls LOVED doing the trail Scavenger Hunt which could have been driven by hot chocolate and After Eights, haha!

Just kidding, they loved searching for the items on our list and we got creative!

The last two badges are Dream Team (creating your own run) and the Resolution Run. I’m not big on Resolution at all but this one I decided to do something I’ve never done but have always wanted to. I can’t share with you what yet but give me a few days and I will. That is, if i can remember to blog about it….if not, find me on Instagram.

Since I mentioned resolutions and that I don’t do them, I do set goals and now boundaries to reduce stress. I also take this first week to decide what goals I want to work towards such as running 1000km like I did last year or read 21 books (that’s a lot for me). I’ll share those goals too.

Hoping your 2021 has started off great!

Anyone set Resolutions or Goals?

What’s one thing you accomplished in 2020?

How are you surviving your restrictions or lockdown(s)?

Hello February…Bye bye January

Just like that we are done January 2014! Did it fly by for you or was it slow as a slug? I felt I had moments of both. With two little ones I always just want time to freeze because they are growing so fast. Before we know it they won’t want to snuggle anymore, hang out with us….who am I kidding…they’ll ALWAYS want to hang out with us and snuggle 😉

Last month I managed to get a good number of runs, soccer games and workouts in. I kept a little snap shot in my handy dandy “running” (turned workout) book. It looks a little something like this:

Running Log Book

Yes, I know there’s an app for that but I like writing it down and having that tangible book that I can look at. Plus, I don’t have a personal cell phone but a Blackberry for work…and well, I don’t want to be glued to my work phone when I’m not at work.

Total kilometers I ran in January: 48 (29.82 miles) – This might not seem like a lot to you…but it is to me! All while working full-time and with my husband away fairly often. Soccer Games played: 2  Games missed: 2 😦 T25 Workouts at work:  3. I love getting my workout done at lunch AND have a workout buddy, thanks Melissa!

February Goals:

  • Run 15 -20 km a week
  • Run once during my lunch break when schedule permits (not on the road)
  • T25 at work during my lunch break when schedule permits
  • Take Lilly downhill skiing and skating
  • Play outside with girls
  • Date night when hubby is home
  • Enjoy the Olympics
  • Aim to be in bed by 10 pm
  • Stay on track with our budget
  • Clean something in my house (I have a list of 40 things) … maybe the fridge I started last month
  • Plan my blogging posts better (don’t spend every night trying to compose 1 post)

And, I may or may not have had my lunch in our boardroom at work….just so I could watch some of the Olympics!

When your department is called “Health & Wellness, Physical Activity, Sport and Recreation” you can kind of get away with watching the Olympics randomly throughout the day! Tomorrow, we are all wearing RED to support our Canadians in Sochi!

Do you have any plans for February?

Have you given up on your New Year’s Resolutions already?

Are you pumped for the Olympics? What’s your favourite sport to watch?

2014 Goals

Happy New Year!!!! 2014 …. 2..0…1…4…Wow! I remember when it was 1999 and thinking the year 2000 was going to be weird. It wasn’t. Some days I can’t believe how fast each year goes by, especially with two little ones now.

My goals for 2014: Live in the moment. Be present. Laugh and Be Happy!

anna and lillian jan 1 2014

  • Run 1000 km this year (621 miles)
  • Clock all miles I run in 2014 – I even created a running book after seeing my fellow blogger’s picture last night
  • Be proud of my running

My goals haven’t changed here except that I’ve confirmed (with myself) to do my second 1/2 Marathon this year. I’ve toyed with the idea for far to long now and really have nothing holding me back.

2. Family

  • Play more outside with my girls/husband
  • Have more patience/let the small stuff go
  • Stress less about what I’m not doing with my kids (crafting, music) and enjoy what I am doing with them every day

3. Personally

  • Reach ultimate weight by the end of 2014
  • Live with less
  • Read more books
  • Get better sleep
  • Date night with my husband every time he is home
  • Workout 4-5 times per week: running, soccer game, DVD workouts, snowshoeing, skiing, swimming, yoga, etc.

4. Blog

  • Blog four times a week
  • Continue to write for TOTS Family
  • Comment more and follow new bloggers
  • Connect better with the Ambassador’s programs I am involved in.

I feel like my goals aren’t too different to last year’s but maybe a little more focused. And a little more of this:

3. Personally

  • Loose baby weight  – YES and Reach ultimate weight this year – No

  • Focus on DVD workouts when unable to run  Yes
