First off – HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY!!!!!!

February Mileage:

February was a really busy and fun month! We skied, I cycled a lot and even got in a little running, yoga and went skating once.

This was one of my favourite days in February, skiing with my girls and my Dad. Nothing better then spending time with your family doing the thing you all love to do!

Weekly Workouts Feb 26th – March 3rd

  • Monday 26th: Skiing with my girls. One daughter had no school while the other one played hooky and I took the day off. Though it was raining while we skied, it was still a great day with my girls. Plank and PT.
  • Tuesday: Yoga Flow class, plank and PT.
  • Wednesday: Cycling – 25km! Plank (2:06) and PT exercises.
  • Thursday: Worked that evening. NO PLANK!
  • Friday: Mama’s night out with some girl friends.
  • Saturday: Too many chores done around the house. I was pooped!
  • Sunday: 8k trail run with Carmacks. Just what we needed!

I forgot to post my weekly workouts on Monday, so I figured I’d add it in now. We are getting a little snow storm today followed by some rain but I’m hopeful that it will stick around so we can snowshoe a little in the next few days as we head into March Break.

Half Way Through February

This month is slipping by rather quickly so I thought I’d do a short check-in post about my February goals.

These are the goals I set:

February Goals

So far so good. I’m on track with all of them but slacking a little on the skiing one. We’ve had other weekend commitments and weather that hasn’t cooperated with the days we could ski…so that one is a work in progress (but I have a plan).

I’ve planked every day, usually before bed. I’ve been keeping accountable on IG stories each day sharing my plank times. I’m not going for a specific time but at least one minute each day.

Week 1

Week 2: Forgot to take save a picture on Day 10. I messed up my dates, so Saturday 1:10 is Feb 10th. Feb 12 (1:04) is the 11th and 1:37 Day 12 is the 12th. Photo fails, good thing I write it down!

Plank Week 2

I’ve cycled 60.56 km so far and feeling like I’ll reach my 100 km for the month. Though running mileage isn’t a goal this month, I had a great treadmill run and FINALLY got out with my running buddy, Krystol Friday night. I know, wild Friday night!!!

Lots of PT exercises happening every day. Sometimes I do them all, sometimes I just do 2-3 of them. My hip and obliques are getting strong but not 100% still. It’s a work in process.

Also……loving the Olympics! Canada already has 16 medals! Our girls are super into the Olympics and learning about new to them sports like Curling, skeleton and speed skating.

I DID IT! 30 Day Plank Challenge DONE!!!!

YEAH! I managed to actually start AND finish a 30 day challenge! Of course, it started of fairly easy and grew harder over the weeks. Right now, I’m just happy to say it’s completed!

30 days of planking from 1 minute to three minutes and yes, that is a face-plant post plank in there 🙂

Learning’s from planking for 30 days:

  • Don’t plank on carpet every day – your elbows will hate you.
  • Go bare foot – you get a better grip and avoid slipping around.
  • Face planting post plank is completely acceptable.
  • You are stronger than you think you are.
  • My triceps hurt the most.
  • Plank when you are on your own! Having little kids around always made it harder. Though they cheered me on and even attempted to plank, it wasn’t fun trying to keep them off me.
  • When you husband (or significant other) tells you your bum is too high, you correct yourself. Not only do you correct yourself, you get pissed off at them for telling you which only makes you want to hold the plank longer.
  • You can surprise yourself!

Running:

I managed a nice 6k runch today even though my training plan only called for 5k. It was really warm and muggy but I was having a great run. The sky was overcast, with the sun poking out every so often. It was perfect.

Tomorrow is Canada Day! Happy Canada Day to all those crazy canucks out there tomorrow! Hope you have nothing but sunshine, good food and create great memories with friends and family! We are starting off the day with some strawberry picking and some other adventures later on the in day!

Apple Blossom Weekend {in photos}

I’m going to keep it simple today…hey, it’s Monday, right!?!?! It was Apple Blossom Weekend here which means fireworks, concerts, parades and Princesses….yes Princesses. It’s an 83-year-old tradition for each community to put forward a Princess and they go through this week-long interview process. I’ll spare you all the details but a “Queen” is selected and they then have multiple events for the rest of the weekend/upcoming week to attend etc.

We hit up swimming Saturday morning for Lilly’s lesson and then had a picnic lunch at the park and watched some skateboarders do their thing…..

Sunday, we had a birthday party to go to, so we got our party dresses on….

I did no running, no PT exercises Friday or Saturday 😦 but for some reason I’m completely exhausted!!!! My LEFT hamstring was giving me trouble Friday and that is my good hamstring!!! I figured a few days off wouldn’t hurt. Sunday night I desperately wanted to run but I must have eaten something that didn’t agree with me because I was super sick for a number of hours. No run but I managed to get my PT exercises in.
