May Runfessions

Knock, knock!

Hello….anyone?

My, my…. I’m a terrible blogger. I’ve really fallen off the radar these last few months with my blog and I’m not going to lie but I’ll runfess that I’m kinda not all that upset about my lack of blogging.

I’m also going to runfess that I’m back to RUNNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well, let’s back that up a little bit.

Happy runner!

Last week, I was give the a-okay to start some light jogging. So that’s what I did. My first run since I sprained my calf muscle was a walk/run/walk. I walked for 7 minutes, ran for 10, then walked for 6 minutes. Those 10 minutes of light jogging was plenty for my calf muscle. I had no pain but it felt weird and awkward.

I did a second run but with my running buddy, Krystol. We haven’t ran since last fall or summer together, I believe. Anyway, it was a great walk/run/walk. Just what we both needed – a little running, more walking and some good conversations with a great friend.

I ran again the other night and was told to increase my running time. I ran for just over 20 minutes and managed to increase my pace each km. This was not planned or something I was focusing on. I just went with how I was feeling. I will runfess that those first two kilometers, I honestly thought I was going to die. Man, starting over is friggin’ hard work but so worth it. Also, I should avoid hills and inclines during my first few km of any run right now.

Starting over!

I runfess that I have zero interest in running any races right now. Likely because I physically can’t do them but mentally I just don’t want to even think about trying to run in a race. However, I’m eyeing some summer and fall races that are local events.

I runfess that I’m jealous that my husband ran Cape Split last weekend and that all I really want to do is go run some trails with him. We don’t get out together very often but we do love getting out on a trail run together. When I first hurt my leg on Easter weekend, we had plans to go for a run together but that went out the door fast.

I’m also going to runfess that I’m absolutely LOVING the new TIUX compression socks that just came out!!!!

I runfess that though I was completely exhausted this morning, I loved getting up at stupid o’clock to walk our dog. I’ll also runfess that I want to start running at stupid o’clock and secretly eyeing the houses around us that have sprinkler systems for those hot summer morning runs.

That’s all I have to runfess for this month. Sorry I’m not blogging much these days but you can find me almost daily on Instagram.

Have any runfessions from May to share?

Early morning runner – heck yes or heck no?

August Runfessions

Happy last Friday of August! This month went by SO fast – did it for you?

We’ll I’m just going to jump right into my August runfessions since I haven’t blogged in a while. My first runfession is that I didn’t plan on writing a blog post today, whoops. I’m on vacation and the last thing I wanted to do was sit on my computer and write. Which brings me to runfession #2.

I runfess that I signed up for another race this morning (hence being on my computer). I registered for the Berwick Gala Days 5 miler! It’s only a 10 minute drive from my house and a great local community event. I ran it last year and really enjoyed it.

runfess I desperately wanted to sign up for a triathlon late September called Keji Multisport. A good friend/co worker of mine is behind it all and I thought it would be a great event to dip my toes into doing a triathlon. Sadly, I just can’t pull it off between home stuff, other races, logistics of getting there and the BIG problem that I have a strong dislike for swimming in the deep lake water. Okay, maybe not a dislike but it brings me some anxiety that makes me panic. So, I didn’t sign up #sadface  Maybe another year.

runfess that I have three races on this fall…well summer/fall since summer doesn’t technically end until Sept 21st. A 5 miler (8k) this weekend, 10k on Sept 15th at Maritime Race Weekend and my half marathon on October 14th in Prince Edward Island.

runfess that I’m most excited about running the half marathon with my husband. We’ll, we likely won’t run together very long as he is faster but we’ll start the race together AND have a weekend away on our own!

I runfess that I haven’t been biking much this month but got in a great bike commute to and from work last week. It was super hot on my way home but so beautiful and my workout was done for the day!

I runfess that I have no clue where this blog is going and I’m totally fine with it. When it first started I was excited to see the numbers of viewers etc, then had a REALLY awesome year with some high stats which was fun and now I just don’t have the time to put into it like I did. Having said that, I’m not quite ready to give it up but will likely just blog when I can.

Ahhhh, that feels good to get those runfessions out!

What are you runfessing this month?

Did summer zoom by for you?

What’s one thing you’re trying to do before the end of summer?

June Runfessions

I’m still here! It’s the last Friday of June which means many things:

1 – Runfessions!

2 – Last day of school for my daugthers.

3 – Getting closer to Canada Day!

June has been a BUSY, BUSY month! I had no races, wasn’t training for an upcoming race but still managed to get in long runs on the weekend!

I runfess that I’m loving my early morning long runs on the weekend! As I mentined, I’m not training for anything but I was really missing those long runs. So, at the beginning of June, I decided to start them up again.

happy runner early moring

runfess that I’m using my soccer games as speed work for running and loving that too! Between both my daughters and I – we’ve been at a soccer field 5 days of the week for the last two weeks! It’s nuts! BUT……..I love it. I love playing, I love watching them play, I enjoy coaching them.

sunday soccer

runfess that I’m also loving not blogging all the time!!! I thought I’d really miss it but I just haven’t made time for it. As a blogger, you have to make time to blog and that hasn’t been a priority for me this month. However, I am posting a lot over on Instagram so if you want to keep up, check me out there.

runfess that my husband and I signed up for a race this fall!!! We even booked our hotel! Wooohoo! But I’m going to leave you all hanging for a little bit longer as to what race and distance we’ll be running. I’ve run it before and loved it!

runfess that I’m a little worried about the BIG heat wave that’s about to hit us in Nova Scotia and plan to take advantage of early morning runs when my husband is off (shift worker). Also…I’ll runfess it’s way easier getting up any day of the week at 5am…yeah 5am to go for a run then it is to get up at 6 or 6:30am for work.

May Runfessions

It’s the last Friday in May – can you believe it? With spring finally arriving in Nova Scotia (though some days it doesn’t feel like it), I’m so ready for summer weather already!

So far, May is the only month I’ve signed up for a race! I runfess that I’m really not all that sad about not having any races on the schedule. It’s a little freeing. I’m sure as the races come up that I’ve run before or have been eyeing to do, I might have a little FOMO going on but I’m okay with that right now.

I runfess that I got a massage right after my half marathon within 20 minutes of finishing my race. It was about 20 minutes while my friend only had a 5 minute massage. I’m pretty sure that helped me feel better then I should post race. I also got a massage on Tuesday which made me feel even better.

I runfess I wore my Tiux compression socks (affiliate link) for most of the weekend! I was on my feet all day Saturday for the 2k youth run with my girls. We took in the expo again and did a lot of walking that afternoon and then back to our car. I also walked my dog twice and was on my feet most of the evening. By the time the evening hit my legs were physically sore so I threw on my compression socks and viola – they immediately felt better. I wore another pair during my run and then a third pair post run to help recover. Lots of Tiux wearing going on!

I runfess that I’m relieved my training for the half marathon has wrapped up. It wasn’t pretty. It wasn’t fun and I’m just glad it’s behind me. I’m also ready to just run when I want to, cycle with my kids/husband, go swimming and just not be tied to anything. Back to my first runfession about not signing up for races – I’ll sign up for some in the fall and maybe a few last minute races over the summer. However, soccer season starts June 3rd – so I’ll be on the field again soon!

Last runfession. I runfess that I’m really looking forward to this weekend! We have very little planned, my husband works all weekend, it’s Apple Blossom Festival and my daughters have swimming lessons. Sadly, I have a chore list – inside and outside of our house to do. I kinda just want to do nothing and watch a whole bunch of TV on my comfy couch!

What are you runfessing this month?

Do you get FOMO (fear of missing out( with races?

What’s are you doing this weekend?

Happy Friday!!!!!!!!!

Runfessions are shared on the last Friday of the month and is hosted by Marcia at Marcia’s Healthy Slice! You can check out her blog and read about lots of other blogger’s Runfessions in her link up!
