Right now, it’s all about the variety in my workouts! There is no consistency and I’m totally fine with that! We have very little snow (on the hills) but skiing is still pretty darn sweet. Yesterday’s run on the trail with Carmacks was great!

Also, if you missed my February Runfessions….because I didn’t post it on Friday – you can check it out here!

How was your weekend/week?

Are you training for anything?

Are you all about variety in your workouts or focusing on one thing?

I don’t always post on here but you can find me posting daily over at Instagram

December Runfessions

Hello….anyone there?!?!

I sort of took an unplanned hiatus over the holidays with great intentions of blogging but I didn’t bother once to turn on my computer….it was kinda nice. However, now I’m left with half finished blog posts and forgotten posts as well.

This is my last installment of “Runfessions” for the year and I think I’ll continue next year.

December Runfessions

I runfess that I really enjoyed my unplanned break from blogging. You know, blogging takes time and thought. I don’t write many “try this….” posts anymore or “tips for running” lately. It’s been more about my running experiences. I just didn’t make time for blogging because let’s be honest bloggers – you have to make time to blog.

I runfess that I’m really loving snowy trail running with my dog Carmacks. We’ve been out a handful of times over the last two weeks and loving it. We did have a wind storm the other day that knocked down some trees on a trail we run so I’ve had to teach him (lift him over) how to climb over fallen down trees.

runfess that I’ve been running with “Christmas tree” earrings for the last few weeks. Apparently, I’ve been forgetting they are on my ears and have been sleeping in them too! See photo above for my dangling earrings!

I runfess that I haven’t looked at my running mileage in three months! Normally, I’d tally it all up at the end of the month but I had no clue where I was until this morning. I’m just around 530km for the year – the lowest I’ve ever been! Oh well!

runfess that I’m getting excited for a spring half marathon with some mama-friends. It’s a race I’ve done before but not this course so it should be fun!!!! Also, I may have encourage them to run the half instead of the 10k – such a bad mama-running friend!

I runfess that I’m happy to see 2017 wrap up and looking forward to 2018. I have zero goals for 2018 at the moment but I always take the first week of January to sort them out, then you’ll see a post on that.

For now, that’s all I’m runfessing for 2017. I have a few wrap up posts to do for 2017 but you’ll see those in the new year.

How was your December?

Anything to runfess this month?

Are you ready for 2018?

You can check out my other Runfession posts: November, October September, AugustJuly, JuneMay, AprilMarchFebruary, and January

I’m linking up with Marcia for today’s Runfessions post. It’s hosted on the last Friday of each month.

Easy Trail Running

Slowly but surely I’m getting back to running. It’s not an easy process when you have to take 3 weeks off (or longer) but I’m working my way back.

My plans for the hypothermic half in January have definitely gone out the door and that’s okay. For now, I’m just focusing on getting in a few runs during the week outside or inside on my treadmill, oh I mean merry mill.

Last Sunday I managed to get out for a 5k with Carmacks on our local trail. It was an old rail bed turned into trails or “Rails to Trails” as some people called it. It’s now part of the Harvest Moon Trail. It was the first time we ran down from our house to the trail and it’s only 1km away to the trail head. Carmacks did really well crossing the street of our busy highway – thank goodness for traffic lights!

We took our time and just ran at an easy pace with only a few pee stops for him. One thing we have to work on is stopping and turning to run back where we just came from. Poor Carmacks was rather confused when I slowed him down and turned him around – he almost came out of his harness!

As we ran back along the trail he settled back into a running grove and even pulled me up the two little hills we had to climb back into our subdivision. Carmacks is up for any distance these days but we’ve been running 5k’s with him so far. It should be fun to see how he does on longer runs – hopefully we can test that out soon!

For now, it’s easy runs for me. So speed work, no tempo runs, just easy running. Enjoyable running. Injury free running! My back is doing so much better and I’m starting to sort out my hip as well. I’ve been approved to get back to yoga (which I may have already done yesterday at lunch) and cycling! Time to get my bike on it’s trainer! As for soccer, I’ve got to wait a little bit longer until I know my hip area is happy and stronger. It kinda sucks but I’d rather get stronger and healthier now then be in pain long term.

The weather has been all over the place in Nova Scotia lately. We had a small dumping of snow on Monday and today’s rain washed it all way. But…don’t worry because the temps are dropping tonight fast so we may have more snow. Let’s just hope it’s not too icy for folks out there driving!

How’s your week going?

Where is your favourite place to run this time of year? Trails, indoors, roads?

Anyone have any running plans for the holidays?
